You know a part of me agrees when blueanon schizos say this was a planned event.Simply because of this picture. The only thing that would have made it better would be an eagle passing by on the left.
Crazy thing is that the day it happened I told everyone in the truck as we were riding back about it and the one older liberal guy assumed it was staged without needing any input from the news or twitter. He didn't even need an updated version or to read the patch notes. He heard about it A Priori and knew what to run with. Naturally my response was "If they staged it they did a fucking impeccable job"

David Chang did a special food show thing in Houston once and was visibly upset and confused when all the Thai and Vietnamese folks he interviewed were rabidly conservative.
All of my nail techs are Vietnamese and voted for Trump. They talk about how they love his no tax on tips policy and voted for him in front of clearly libtarded clients. They don't understand that liking Trump is verbotten to those people, it's too funny. Two of the nail techs went back home because they were here illegally and yet all the legal ones still voted Trump, that's how down for him they are lmfao

It's especially hard to legally immigrate to the US from Vietnam the waiting list is so long. I have a relative who immigrated his Vietnamese wife's parents and sibling over and it took 10-15 years. One of the siblings had a 4yo when they began the process who turned 18 right before they were approved and had to start over. They left her in Vietnam.

But, surely, anyone my age (50s) can remember the Hooked on Phonics commercials from the late 80s and early 90s. They were everywhere in those days.
I believe that's about the time phonics started falling into disfavor with enough of a market/interest in parents at the time who still wanted their kids to learn via that method because it generally worked.

The subsidies scale up, as they should, and this is really one of the big reasons for the shutdown now.
My understanding of the subsidies and the sticking point regarding them via the shutdown:
  • ACA (Obamacare) subsidies originally scaled so that people making less money receives a bigger subsidy and people earning up to 400% of the Federal Poverty Line (FPL) received subsidies of diminishing amounts.
  • When Biden and the Democrats took over in 2021, one of the items they passed during COVID was a measure giving everyone receiving subsidies the same amount - specifically they could now receive the largest possible subsidies previously reserved for those earning the least.
  • The above measure was passed as a temporary item set to expire this year with the subsidies reverting back to the previous formula based on FPL figures.
  • Democrats want the maximum subsidy offerings to continue - whether for this budget or permanently (I'm not sure which, but I suspect the latter). Republicans responded, "LOL no," because COVID is over and there's no legitimate reason why someone making $50k/year deserves the same dollar amount subsidy as someone earning just $20K.
  • ACA allows for Medicaid expansion, and some states who opted to expand their Medicaid programs might be funneling those extra dollars towards healthcare for illegal aliens even though illegal aliens aren't supposed to be eligible for ACA coverage. Republicans and Democrats might also be clashing over this.
  • In the meantime, people continue to pearl clutch over increasing healthcare costs as the "Affordable" part of the Affordable Care Act has proven to be a misnomer ever since its inception.

A story from today's NY Post. Any chance of any of this being tried - who knows?

House Republicans want to strip Zohran Mamdani of citizenship, possibly deport NYC mayoral frontrunner over form omissions
By Geoff Earle Published Oct. 25, 2025, 9:38 a.m. ET

The first immigration case NYC
mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani may have to confront if elected could be his own – as two House Republicans push the Justice Department to probe his path to citizenship and possibly boot him from the US. Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) last week demanded the feds “review every naturalization of the past 30 years – starting with Mamdani.”

“I just think we need to take a hard look at how these folks became citizens, and if there is any fraud or any violation of the rules we need to denaturalize and deport,” Fine told the Post.

He also called for a probe of anti-Israel “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who was born in Somalia and is one of the first two women Muslims to serve in Congress. Mamdani is a threat to the nation, he continued. “I know that there’s a lot of us that are very, very concerned about the enemy within – people who have come to this country to become citizens, to destroy it.” He dismissed logistical concerns about yanking the citizenship of naturalized Americans after they got elected to top jobs. “If they’re not Americans, they can’t be in office,” he said.

Since June, his colleague Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) has pushed for a Justice Department probe of Mamdani, saying the socialist who is leading NYC mayoral polls lied on his sworn statement when he became a naturalized citizen in 2018. Ogles issued a call to “Deport Mamdani!” and branded him an “antisemitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York.”

“In 2018 when he was naturalized, he failed to disclose some of the things that he had been doing, one of which was joining the [Democratic] Socialists of America. That’s a communist organization which, quite frankly, at that time, would have disqualified him from becoming a United States citizen,” Ogles told Newsmax.

He also cited Mamdani’s statements calling to free “the Holy Land Five” – a quintet of Palestinian-Americans who led the giant Muslim charity Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development and who were convicted in 2008 of funneling millions of dollars to Hamas. US immigration law declares inadmissible those who have “been a member of or affiliated with the Communist or any other totalitarian party.” The current form asks would-be citizens to disclose if they have ever been associated “in any way” with “any Communist or totalitarian party anywhere in the world.” President Trump has called Mamdani a “communist lunatic.” Mamdani specifically denies being a communist.

Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.), who represents Dearborn Heights, which contains a large Muslim population, called for Ogles to be censured over his posts. The Justice Department wouldn’t rule out a probe of Mamdani.

“Due to the Democrats’ shutdown, congressional correspondence is delayed. The department does not comment on the status of ongoing or potential investigations,” a DOJ spokesperson told The Post.

The latest outrage over Mamdani came when he posed a cheery photo to X alongside controversial imam Siraj Wahhaj, who was named as an un-indicted co-conspirator to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing that killed six. Mamdani did not return a request for comment.

This is big if true. Get this commie pajeet the fuck out of my country! x

At first I kind of wanted to see him get elected because he is the exact type of freak that NYC deserves. But seeing as Zohran is the only noteable up-and-coming politician these lefties have to cling to, I would be 100% onboard with deporting the fucker solely for the purposes of demoralization. Can you imagine how broken the average leftie would be if their favorite politician got deported to South Sudan just days before he was about to become mayor of America's largest city?

Please God make this happen it would be so fucking funny.

I've learned that I can't rule anything out, reality has given in to chaos now.

Don't tell redditors about the Palace of the Soviets. It was supposed to have a meeting hall 430ft wide and 330ft tall. They finished the foundations but Operation Barbarosa started so the Soviets repurposed the steel. Link if anyone is interested, the whole project has a very interesting history and art of it ended up on tons of things like stamps even though it was never built.
They can still build it. America should donate and help. That thing looks awesome.
