It's pretty easy to talk to people here, easier than it was in old forums to be honest. In most old forums I was apart of, there would almost always be some power user or mod that would outright ban anyone who disagreed with them, and the owners of the sites would just let them do that. I'm talking about almost every forum I was on in the late 2000s.

Here, as long as you don't post off topic stuff, derail threads or care about negative stickers, you can talk about whatever you like. Don't like people complaining about woke stuff or something? Give them a negative sticker and ignore them. It's way better here than anywhere else on the internet, past or present if I'm honest.

If you worked with their hides and learnt more about them and it seemed like youd developed an actionable plan that was beneficial for all id have more respect for your choice but at this moment it just seems like you are just angry at them when they have done nothing wrong.

I do love how every time someone points out similarities, you have to invent some ridiculous strawman. It's like you know I've got a point and you're desperate to avoid acknowledging it.

In this case... I don't recall Anita Sarkeesian ever actually saying all that stuff. I don't doubt she would have supported it, but mostly I remember her argument being "video games make you sexist," thus I compare it to Thompson's "video games make you violent."

Their underlying arguments were doggedly similar--just for example: both claimed to have seen studies that back up their view. But neither could produce said studies.

This was actually always one of the reasons I didn't trust Anita: "we didn't believe this crap when Jack Thompson said it, why would we believe it when Anita does?"

And really dude... you're gonna glaze Jack Thompson as being just this friendly old man who was just thinking of the children? HE TRIED TO GET MURDERERS OFF THE HOOK, inserting himself into trials where nobody had asked for him in order to try and say "this only happened because of violent video games!" (he would go after movies and genres of music as well, by the way).

Incidentally, Jack had also gone after certain music videos for "objectifying women." You really want to place one SJW on a pedestal in order to own another SJW?

(and in general you might wanna read up on the guy... video games were not the only thing he had a bug up his butt about. Some parts of his story were legitimately kind of amazing. The part where he would send people copies of his driver's license, but with the face replaced with Batman's, I can't tell if that's the awesome kind of amazing or the incredibly cringe kind).
