I don't think it's really applicable to any country besides the USA. Old age pensions were established in Canada in 1867 as part of the Constitution Act, but the USA didn't introduce its first federal-level pensions until 1930s. Old age security was one of the defining elements of the Canadian state's genesis, but not for the USA. Social welfare has always had an important basis in Canadian society, hence things like baby bonuses, or health care, or even subsidized university tuition.

The only real hope of the Great Flush is a combination that the Winter’s filter them (the amount of bitching I hear from them about how cold it gets over the years working with various FOB’s) and that companies will slowly start to purge the more useless ones once the Government can’t afford to pay half their wages.

Even then most of them will probably pivot to DoorDash until their Visa’s expire. Which is laughable - the Jeet Drivers I have to deal with for work all complain that they don’t make enough per delivery, it’s gotten to the point we’ve legitimately started telling them to go get real jobs…

No but seriously, what is it with Jeets and just “working” every Delivery App? Having that many of them driving in a given area probably dilutes it payouts to shit, and they all sign up to every single one of them…

That sounds similar to China having millions of takeout delivery drivers. It's to the point that even newly graduated college students get takeout delivery jobs, because there is literally no other jobs available for them.

Never happening because you need more than Oil and Gas as a culture, it works well as a theme for a hockey team but not as the basis for a nation separate from Canada.

Quebec always has higher chances of actually leaving and even they know it wont happen, Albertans who support independence just need to learn the same lessons

Canada sacrificed its cultural heritage to make immigration, universal healthcare, and Tim Hortons the three pillars of its post-national state. Immigration and the cultural relativism has brought infinite Jeets that eroded social cohesion to nothing in addition to exacerbating cost of living while cratering quality of living. Universal healthcare is collapsing, in part, because of that and Tim Hortons just a hollow corporate shell that sacrificed its brand identity for profit. Canada has no culture so any theoretical Alberta separation would be a clean slate.

Even the most gated communities are being infested by immigrants now, and in fact Montreal had the most immigration out of any city in 2024. Another thing is that liberals, and especially liberal boomers secretly despise immigrants and view them as slaves or at best their "adopted children" (remember having kids as a white person is evil). I think PP's biggest mistake was that he underestimated how pro-government Canadians are. Canada is basically a country ran by redditors, and made up of mostly man-children, who want to be coddled by big daddy government.
