Naval procurement is legendarily bad, outside of maybe Subs. Shit on the F-35 if you want, if it hadn't been made a combined project, the Navy wouldn't have anything 5th Generation and if they'd tried to make their own, they would have wasted more money and achieved nothing. See the A-12, the LCS program, etc. The Zumwalts are even a hull style that everyone knew was shit for seakeeping over a century ago, even if it took the French awhile to admit it.
The Virginia Class submarine is without question the apex predator of the ocean. I am so looking foreword too China blowing all their preparation on beating off the US Navies Carriers when they finally pull the trigger on invading Taiwan, only too find a fleet of Virginia's absolutely trashing their landing operation while the Carriers play patty cake with each other off Guam.

The fact that most of you didn't even know about them until I mentioned them is the point. The US Navy makes a big show of the carriers, but their knife in the dark is the USS Virginia.

>using U.S. cities as 'training grounds for our military'
police had enough target practicing on blacks and now it's the army's time or what? what is this nigga saying
There's a lot that can be inferred from what he said. But his statement on face means exactly what he said, he wants the US military to be deployed into cities for training purposes and there's good reason for it. A modern war with another first world power(will never happen) would look way different than the fighting we did back in the sand box. Urban environments are a hell of a lot more complex battlefields than say a small town in bumble fuck nowhere. Other countries do this with their military as well. Lithuania does it without informing the civilians, just rolls in firing blanks and sweeping buildings (the building owners are informed.)

Now as to the 'why' Trump wants to do this, it's obviously more than just for training. The knock on effects are what he's after. The military presence in the blue cities makes them put their money where their mouths are in regards to crime and safety. He's calling a bluff, "oh your city is safe? Wonderful, then it's definitely safe enough for our military to get in some real urban training". This is going to go very poorly for the leadership in blue cities because inevitably service members there for training are going to have crimes and violence leveled at them. Once that happens, the jigs up, the government will have the justification it needs to send in federal agents to get the now proven crime levels under control.

Honestly it's a smart play that allows Trump to get multiple things that he wants accomplished. Assuming thats what's happening, I am just speculating after all.

The US Sub force are, with the decline of the Royal Navy, the scariest motherfuckers under the water and the only part of the Navy that still really works right. The Chinese are still trying to claim their subs are the equal of the Los Angeles-Class, which I doubt, the Sea Wolves and the Virginias scary. On the other hand, the non-Nuke boats are pretty good in the South China Sea, but I expect the Taiwanese's new subs will, at the very least, survive long enough for us to get in position. And I'd assume sell themselves dearly as the saying goes.

Amusingly, what people want with a gun ship would fit Armored Cruisers as a concept pretty well. No one in the USN would ever want to use the word battlecruiser to define a ship class, so we'd probably just dust off the Large Heavy Cruiser designation again. But it would be enough to bully the cope navies of the world and the various pirate supporting counties.

I’m hopeful for the future of America, especially if we handle leftist terror effectively and deportations pick up (both of which look likely). I wish I could say the same for the rest of the Anglosphere. It makes me sick to my stomach seeing these good, kindly people being abused and raped by migrants with the express permission of their governments. We should militarily intervene, but since Trump is a noted Anglophile I doubt anything will happen until 2029 at the earliest. Maybe Erik Prince?
I fail to see how Anglosphere and western Europe can be saved with anything less than a dictator.

The other sleeper in the mix is the Singapore Navy. They keep getting ignored in all the discussions about a hypothetical war in the South China Sea and Taiwan Straights, but those guys have been spending the last 30 years trying too build a fleet that can be fired at China in a single glorious blaze with the potential of a kill shot. Singapore in particular relies on the open trade lanes which means any Chinese entrenchment of the 9 dash line would be a death knell for them. They've been investing hard into submarines, fast attack frigates and unmanned sea drones.

Women are losing their power, no one cares, they're now trying to spin Trump's trolling as racist:

Biggest flop this side of an Illinois ICE facility, so fake, so gay, and wasting valuable medical resources so he can pretend to sue:

Meanwhile, ICE in Chicago rappelled meme style to get some TDA faggots:

Trump is smart, using kids as human shields just like the dems do, having families who benefitted from his right to try and executive orders show up right before the shutdown. Even lil' Cuck Schumer tried to say Trump is killing kids with cancer by shutting down the government, no one believes that anymore:

I'm no military buff, but surely for bullying pirates and 3rd worlders, a battleship is the most economical way to do it safely right? Those shells can't be that expensive (on a military scale), maybe a few thousand a shot as compared to missiles that cost hundreds of thousands. For leveling an area with non-nuclear ordinance, having a battleship parked 20 miles off the coast with the battle fleet just shelling a pirate port to rubble seems like the way to go.

For near peers it's stupid for the most part, but like the A-10 it might not be too bad of an idea, since 75% of the Navy's job is handling pirates, uppity terrorists and cartels, and the other 25% is making sure every other country doesn't fuck around by promising they'll find out if they do. Plus they're just fucking cool, major PR showing off those walls of flame as guns so big you could crawl into the barrel shoot small cars at the enemy.
bullying pirates and third worlders? that's what predator drones are for. if you want to do it with a ship, the smallest and cheapest attack submarine available is the proper tool for the job. pirates and thirdies aren't equipped to deal with subs in any way.

battleships are a meme from a bygone age, they're essentially just massive floating artillery guns, they are completely outclassed by missile ships and aircraft carriers.
and while in land warfare artillery guns still have some redeeming qualities (much cheaper and easier to mass produce than missiles and aircraft) that keep them relevant, battleships don't even have that going for them because as gigantic super-heavy warships they are ultra expensive to construct and operate.

Somehow I doubt the Chinese warships are as tough as they want us to think
Anything in China is built for efficiency, not quality. This can be great if you need something done quickly, or want it to appear like you have the supplies or infrastructure, but overtime it causes problems. Shelf life is lower, things break, safety issues arise, and you're often spending millions more in maintenance or injuries.

I'll try and find the story, but some years back they were building a bridge in New Hampshire, I think. They ordered steel support beams from China, and they had to send them back because the beams arrived with giant cracks already in them.

The Watch People Die thread is about 15% Chinese videos because they value simply completing the project then they value quality, safety or human life.

A shutdown is basically inevitable became Dems are demanding Healthcare for illegals and Orange Man would never in a million years agree to that.
