I was busy downloading a lot of stuf from YouTube. I had to rejiggle and even delete a lot of data between my 'ROMs and videos' har drive and my 'archive' har drive before I could make more room.
Another problem is trying to figure out how to get rid of duplicates that arose from redownloading the same playlist several times. The problem is not automatisation, but figuring out how to find the best quality video from a dump of mp4s, webms, and mkvs. These are container formats, too.

YouTube is working on a feature everyone was eagerly waiting for: AI hosts for its Music app (direct link):
The "Beyond the Beat" host will break in every so often with relevant stories, trivia, and commentary about your musical tastes. YouTube says this feature will appear when you are listening to mixes and radio stations.

It's on the Labs program so it might never see the light of day, but it could also be a glimpse into the future.

PreserveTube down, downloaders not working, things are getting dire. Looks like I might be able to download on Grayjay if I log into it, which I'm sure won't have negative consequences.

My account is over fifteen years old, and its early history is dominated by videos about vintage electronics and obscure underground music, as toddlers' accounts tend to be.
Maybe their Artificial Indians will reach a new level of galaxy-brained and start locking 18 year old accounts.

Finally got tired of the new UI and fixed the styling to not have the controls take up half my goddamn screen. But why do the jokes have to write themselves?

This YouTube downloading situation seems urgent; I need to archive my YouTube watch history sometime in the near future.
Not really, at least its only as urgent as it has been at literally any other point in time (that is, urgent if you think the service could shut down literally next week with no alternative, which it always could but probably won't), youtube breaks functionality for external programs fairly often, this isn't even the worst instance of it happening

>snooze for an hour
>snooze for a day
so you can't even turn it off, fucking brilliant youtube, whatever will you think of next? ads that download unto your computer and plays until you buy youtube premium? only 10 free youtube videos a day unless you pay?

I just noticed a "Stats for Nerds" option when right-clicking embedded YouTube videos here on the site. Here's a screenshot from the Louis Rossman thread:

Is this because there's still at least one soul, buried deep within Alphabet, who still has a sense of humor? Or is this because @Null is one of the few remaining website ooperators on the Internet who still has a sense of humor?

That's been there for at least a decade so it's left over from when there were actual nerds there. The jeets are too afraid to change it because it might break something.

Sure, why not replace all of the human from humanity? We are quite "obsolete" it seems.

Radio hosts are known for their engaging, sometimes eccentric, personalities and insightful commentary over all sorts of topics.

Imagine thinking "Yeah, we can AI that away. No problemo."

I hate throw the terms like "late stage capitalism" (since it did sort of become a cheap buzzword) but its difficult to imagine a better situation that describes such event where the powers that be are obssessed with replacing whatever they fucking can with AI (doesnt matter how shitty and inferior the end result is). At this point I dont even think its to save money, it just feels like another demoralization measure.

Nigga have you really never seen this option before, its been a right-click option on youtube since the 2010s. Also Null wouldn't be able to modify the embed to do anything, its not his website loading the video.

Anyway its still kept there for video troubleshooting. As unbelievable as it sounds they'd still need some actual useful information about the video data when trying to fix player crashes or bugs while testing or getting feedback from users. Most people won't need or use it though.

Nope, never noticed it before now.

There are many ways in which I am a retarded nigger. You may add this one to the list.

Looks like YouTube is trying to block VPNs now - I got a 404 error and a "looks like you are using a VPN/proxy" warning on a video w/ Brave+Ublock Origin, both fully updated

It went away on a refresh, but I'm not surprised, and I'm sure more is coming down the pipe.

YouTube finally did it, their dumbfuck AI decided I was underage. Guess it was because I watched one video about Minecraft in between an engineering video and Count Dankula's video on prison S-21 (Cause we all know kids love to watch that kind of content)

Keep trying different nodes, avoid "first world" countries. Whenever I pick something European or North American I get the nagging, but picking more exotic places makes YouTube relax.
