I initially had a different post typed out in response to this, expressing my horror at the whole affair. But then I realized, this is just another flavor of monsters preying on the insecurity of teenagers. Adolescence is an emotionally tumultuous time, as one's body grows and changes faster than it ever did before, in ways that it never has before. So of course a teenage girl is likely to be uncomfortable with her body and seek to change it.
