Who remembers the RoboCop remake? It missed the point on many things, but so did this entry. The "drones which reduces countries to police states" are literally one scene of them fighting terrorist suicide bombers in Iran. Then it tries pinning the villain for a guy he revived committing suicide, over something unrelated to his direct influence... finally it suggests a basic attempt to kill the hero is the apex of evil, when villains of the old films aimed for the same and much worse. Whoever put this in is was desperate to squeeze Ameriphobic validation out of minor plot aspects. The more I look the more it makes sense why those threads were axed.

I've only saw the opening gunfight. I'd say that it's quite the reach from using them to kill off terrorists with the obvious glitch in the system to using them to replace regular law enforcement. But...

You have no idea just how seriously people take this shit.

There could have been some interesting points in the robocop remake.... but I can never get past it with my OCD the fact that the one biological hand they leave for Murphy, IS HIS GUN HAND.

WTF would they not make his bio hand his left hand so then the full mechanical right can hold and wield a heavier gun with more firepower? No let's have a fleshy hand that can have nerves and bones shatter from firearm use. (Anyone who has shot guns before will know recoil can be a bitch) Not to mention how effective can the cyborg hand-eye aiming feature be when it terminates in a biological end point that won't have machine precision? Oh sure our aiming reticle was spot on target, but the fingers holding the gun twitched so the barrel went off just a fraction of an inch - which matters if the target gets some distance from you.

I'm pretty sure it's symbolic in the fact that it's still a human hand pulling the trigger. The fact that literal human hands do have the neurological flaws that you mentions is irrelevant, the idea that the cyborg supercop still has a conscience is important for the story and in-story PR.

So, you want an literal aimbot? Seems fair for me, given how that's the point of RoboCop.
It's a sign of poor writing structures, where they'll have things both logical and illogical. Like in this, the corporate engineers are supposed to have enough foresight to set up a pump system to keep the biological hand alive, with no thought how it's going to work with - like you said - the aiming system. If nothing else, make his left hand the dominant gun one.

Yeah, and that would have probably all been executed better having it be his left hand where he could still wear his wedding ring.

Modern writing can't even pull off hamfisted tropes any more.

Yeah, that's it. This movie is an complete dud. Fuck everything, the older movies at least had the excuse on that it predated the internet.

And it clearly set up that it was aiming for satire and commentary.

Like the opening board room scene with ED209. No sane research department would have a massive war machine go into a room with the bosses with live ammo. (well... depending). But the minutes earlier established that we're in a world that is askew here operating under its own (humorous) rules and not strictly being true-to-life. So then it all ends up working and the tone stays consistent through the rest of the film.

The thing with the Remake RoboCop having an organic hand - they basically cut the best scene from the Remake.

For context: original RoboCop has a scene where the team working on the eponymous cyborg reports that they were able to save his right arm/hand. OCP executive is only interested if it has any advantage over a mechanical one and Murphy's brain ends up being basically the only part they use (the face is synthetic which explains why he is never taken out by shots to the exposed chin.)

In the deleted Remake scene, the CEO basically has the exact same motivations but flips the script with "let's give our killer robot a human handshake, that'll convince all the fools to accept it."
If nothing else, make his left hand the dominant gun one.
Agreed. Also what if the pivotal final scene had him able to bypass the Directives (at least in part) because he swaps the gun into his human hand instead of the robot one? Perhaps it's explained as him shutting down the aim-assist system entirely and using his human brain and human fingers only, to successfully land a trick shot? Wouldn't that be thematic?

Bingo. You get the point of using movie imagery. And yeah that would have been an impactful moment, especially if they had a few nods earlier about that human hand being "useless" or "just for PR" and had been largely ignored.

anand the conversation dies out because nobody wants to talk about the manchildren aho use Roblox
That happens a lot on TVT I notice; threads just kinda died out because no one wants to address the elephant in the room. I imagine it's out of fear that the elephant is standing right next to them and will flip the fuck out if anyone says anything.

I'm pretty sure that's ingrained within the site rules. At the very least, it's been kind of proven that the jannies have no patience for cleaning after their own retarded userbase.

But at any rate, a coomer tried to ruin shit. And in a sick twist of irony, The main reason why the corresponding page hasn't had it's fair share of images removed is that there' s an rule that prevents regular people from deleting them to abide by the content policy without making an thread within a specific subforum...That can only have an finite number of active threads in it.

I feel like tvtropes has been getting worse with the wikipedia-esque bureaucratic autism, lots of stuff getting purged or renamed or reorganized for no real reason.

At some point the higher ups will realize that TVT as a website is failing, because keeping the same autist paypiggies in their forums without any fresh blood is not sustainable, and they they'll have to either get their shit together (lol they won't) or just shutter.

I really want the latter to happen. Finally kill this dogshit website and its' population once and for all.

Failing? It's already beyond capacity. No way can it remain up when even visitation has seen an undeniable decline.
