Water being a sensory experience is the most likely reasoning. Autistic people enjoy high sensory stimulation and being in the water acts on multiple senses continuously - touch, visual, auditory, and even smell. They actively seek out sensory input and if they are understimulated they will make their own (rocking, hand flapping, spinning, etc.). Kids in general also just fucking love playing in water, the enjoyment is just exponentially higher for autistic kids.
It’s like that in Angelman’s syndrome. I wonder how many other sped disorders have that symptom. Speds in general are prone to wondering off.

Dumb question, but why couldn't the owners let the community have the food instead of letting it rot? Is it an insurance/tax write-off to let the food spoil?
The last owners were Chinese so don't expect any empathy from them. The store went to shit as soon as they took over according to some of the people they interviewed.

Based on the timing, she was talking about the Egypt Air 990 flight. Captain goes to the bathroom and the first officer says a prayer and puts it into a dive. Captain manages to fight back into the cockpit and level it. FO then turns the fuel off to the engines (exactly like that recent Indian crash) and dives again, this time so fast it starts breaking up. The Egyptians still swear it was the fault of the plane and wasn't suicide even though you have the FO on the CVR quietly saying prayers and FDR showing the split inputs from the pilot and the FO.

Now that you mention it, I specifically remember one of the jokes she told about it at the time was, and I'm paraphrasing "we found the tapes, but they're in Arabic and.....Arabic's really hard."

I recall reading the Survivalist Board's thread on creepy encounters in the woods and other weird shit many years ago. There's a lot of anecdotes in there, some of you might like to peruse them. And it started before the creepypasta fad got big, so most of them sound more plausible than the robogranny under Mount Shasta posted in this thread a while back.
I've been in the woods and wilderness of America for years and the only creepy thing I have ever run across was when I was out west on a hunting trip. I was returning to camp at dusk and I got this weird feeling like something was following me. It had rained that afternoon so I could see my foot prints in the mud on the trail. I decided to double back on myself. I went in a big loop and ended up about 1/4 a mile behind where I started on the trail and saw what was following me. I saw mountain lion paw prints in the mud on top of my foot prints. And where I went off the trail to double back, those paw prints went off the trail.

I don't like snakes at all, and I give bears and wolves a wide berth, but the only animals I truly fear are big cats. I kept my head on a swivel the rest of the way back to camp.

I know it isn't a missing person or unsolved murder or UFO story, but it's the closest I've gotten to truly eerie in the woods.

The grocery store local to me closed unexpectedly and they also left everything. Thankfully they didn't have anything fresh (aside an end full of bananas) when this happened, and a former staff member with a key salvaged the bananas.
The new owners still had to throw out everything left, mostly due to black mold. Never made the news though.

I can't blame you for being freaked out! Going to repost this video of an aggressive mountain lion mother stalking and chasing down someone hiking.
IIRC mother and her cubs were fine along with the hiker. Can't blame a mother cougar for doing this but as a human I'd be shitting my pants.

Why is the guy so scared? It's just a big kitty, I know kitties.
Just hope it doesn't have raddies.

I actually like Mountain Lions, but they are scary on general. I'll never unhear the crazy human sounding screams they make.

Same here! I love learning about animals but I'd prefer a respectful distance in the wild between me and a bear or a mountain lion. Can't blame people on Alone for freaking out when either gets too close to camp.

I know someone who got stalked by one when he was out in the mountains. He scared it off and it left.

So they can be scary, but they also can leave pretty easily.

All you need to do is get a crying wojak mask and wear it backwards. Literally the way to repel non-jaguar forest cats like cougars is "look behind you". For jaguars though, can't do nothing You're SOL. They're the biggest assholes in the jungle. The Kiwi Farmer of big cats, if you will.

Today I am lurking Badaliens.info for my creepy conspiracy fix. https://badaliens.info/
For one, there was an odd, under-reported detail about the body that seems remarkably odd, and that is that when McGrogan’s body was found he was missing his shoes. In fact, even after an intense search his shoes have never been found. Why would he take them off in such cold, snowy weather and where did they go? Adding to this puzzle was the location of the body, over four miles from the trail. Did he get lost? Why would he have left the trail to end up all the way out there to fall to begin with, and why would he take off his shoes to do it? Considering the rocky terrain would it even be possible to traverse it in such freezing weather and through snow drifts without footwear? It is all rather odd.
It's called paradoxical undressing.
