I think free speech is important, but this guy is such a contrarian douche bag about everything.

It almost seems like he gets his take on something by just seeing what one side says, and going with the opposite.

The FBI (IIRC) address mentioned him/them going down some very dark corners of the internet or something. I was wondering if they were referring to the pedo/terrorgram type shit. Is this account trustworthy for the most part?

Honestly, this reminds me of something my mom said about losing a husband:

It's almost tolerable when it first happens because everyone's there for you. Everyone offers hands and support and love.

You're running on pure adrenaline, completely numb, barely sleeping and thinking during this part.

You have to be strong for your kids, because no one else will be strong for them. You have to survive to make an example for them.

The part where it sucks is about six months after, where people stop checking in on you as much.

People stop talking to you because you're not the same person you were, or they just don't have anything more to say.

The adrenaline has worn off.

Now you're just left with the horrifying truth that the love of your life is dead and you're alone and you just have to continue to go forward.

I can't imagine going through that, period- let alone so publicly and having to be the face of your husband's legacy instantly.

It's harsh. I've said it before but goddamn, I feel for Erika so bad (:_(

Skylar Webster is a name that's been associated with the idea of a Discord group that supposedly knew about the assassination.

I'm not sure what else could be said about him specifically, it seems pretty cold about him except he deleted everything. The FBI said that there's at least 20 people associated with the Discord stuff so maybe more will come out.

I will consider it an L for humanity if the feds haven’t raided Reddit and Discord by the end of this week. It’s fucking long overdue.

Wouldn't it be funny if the companies that are on record saying they keep backups of everything their users post on their platform, even if the users delete their posts, mysteriously lost all the logs right before the feds decided to launch a raid?

This one. I have a feeling won't be popular here. I became convinced, well before this happened. Reddit has been taken over as a source of disseminating propaganda, to sew division between the population. Every large subreddit there, has been pushing insane misinformation, and propaganda for years now. And it especially seemed to ramp up before trump was elected, and after.

Literally the instant anything happened, it wouldn't just have a story covering an event. It would be some taken out of context story, obviously made to gaslight the people that were already leaning on a certain side politically, into fearing that they are about to see a nazi takeover of the country. That they are going to be thrown into, camps, and that the entire right wing want them dead. It's the perfect place, for state actors to just spew out a torrent of bullshit with the intention, of generating fear, and hatred of people that they would otherwise be fine with. Of how capitalism is causing all of it, and socialism or communism is the answer. And anyone that doesn't want that, is actually your enemy.

I think places like reddit, are full of a bunch of impressionable retards, and it's a perfect place to be taken advantage of by state actors. (much like 4chan). I would be shocked, if a lot of the ideas that have lead to the current political climate, weren't being push by government agencies. This isn't some crazy hard thing for a state to do. It really makes, less sense to not try destabilizing enemy states, when you have a nearly free option to take advantage of to spread misinformation.

I'm not someone that buys into that many conspiracies, like I'm not someone that thinks Israel killed Charlie Kirk. But I absolutely think government's can, and would be doing this. The Eglan air-force base happened a while back, but as far as I know, there is nothing that would suggest, anything has changed, and that countries other than our own wouldn't be doing the same thing.

yeah there's no way reddit's traffic patterns are organic. some actors seem to manipulate reddit through owning mods and having coordinated campaigns across subreddits, others seem to bot content to the top and then use bots in comment to create engagement and frame issues. the open question is how much that works to shape public opinion vs. astoturfing that ultimately goes nowhere.
