Until there's further information, my honest guess right now is that Lance Twiggs played a part in Tyler Robinson's radicalization but did not know about the assassination plot, or carelessly passed off any violent musings from Robinson as jokes. While Robinson did contact Twiggs about picking up the gun in the woods, I suspect this was done after the shooting in which Robinson was in a panic and drew in his boyfriend right then in a desperate grasp for help.

Something I'm curious about that would be a tell on Twiggs' character is whether he then contacted the police on his own or waited for them to come to him after Robinson's capture. Thinking on it further just now, however, considering the time between the discovery of the gun and Robinson's capture by his father, it seems likely that Twiggs stayed quiet in hope that Robinson would get away with it. If Twiggs honestly didn't know about the plot before, then he's a coward at best.
