I keep hearing this take, but it always strikes me as unrealistic bullshit. Kirk was a mainstream conservative who was firmly in the good graces of (and had long competently & consistently supported) the Trump camp, while Fuentes openly declared war on and worked against MAGA after his disastrous attempt at hooking Trump up with Kanye again. Kirk's followers were flesh-and-blood young conservatives who actually touched grass & did constructive shit IRL, the Groypers are terminally online and mostly brown (physically that is, certainly entirely so spiritually speaking) retarded edgelords. Kirk himself, of course, was - if nothing else - an actually wholesome family man who had no skeletons in his closet to my knowledge and who fathered two children he clearly dearly loved with a beauty queen wife while Fuentes is, well, Fuentes in all his gay, catboy-loving (in)glory.

TPUSA fans are going to tune out Fuentes the instant they see those clips of him saying that rape is based, so not a big deal, etc. or any of his many other retarded takes & super-edgy jokes/'jokes'. Shit, even 100 years ago, when whitey was far more openly racist and perfectly happy to get violent than the edgiest Groyper could imagine today, the Grand Dragon of the KKK being outed as a degenerate rapist destroyed said KKK at the height of its power. And at least that spiritual nigger actually got shit done IRL, Fuentes was of no help and if anything an active hindrance to real-life right-wing causes, unlike Kirk who's been repeatedly credited for winning Trump Arizona in 2024 and helping greatly in the other swing states.

I know she has her own thread but this video is just fucking insanity as Taylor Lorenz around the 5 minute mark tries to equate this death to deaths from people not wearing covid masks (and not just the chuddies, she blames fucking biden for ending restrictions too early)
 
Its probably worth asking why this particular death feels so egregious, and I think that is undeniable now. A large segment of the population, even including people who were not that interested in Kirk's politics like myself, feel very strongly about it. I might guess that in part, despite some differences, we view him as one of our own.

These are my sort of rambling thoughts to answer the question, why this death in particular, and not so many others? We might compare it with how the massacre at the bataclan, or the killing of the charlie hebdo journalists was more affective than some random massacre by militants in africa of civillians, or in the middle east. Or you might compare the killing of an adult man with the killing of a child. Both are murder but one seems more cruel.

Some combination of these factors probably contributes to why I, and I can tell many others, are shaken by this event in particular. There is of course a political angle, and never before has it been more clear the moral divide between these two sides of an unresolved cultural schism. In real life I experience people both dismissing his assassination, and mourning it, to whatever degree one can truly mourn a stranger.

Being charitable we might entertain comparison to george floyd, but floyd was not murdered deliberately, he was restrained while resisting arrest. We might argue over how much force was truly required, and the callousness of chauvin when considering floyd's well being, but the situation is not even remotely comparable to shooting a man on a stage while he is having a talk. It seems to me the opposing side, apologizing for kirk's death, can only say that its ironic and therefor funny, or that his words menaced people, which is very different from Floyd comitting an actual crime, and then resisting being arrested for it.

Anyway, I'm just a retard who only truly knows how I feel. I wish there were a way to make a Kirk-like big brained argument to shut down everyone who feels differently from me, but I cannot.

I have nothing to go by except a gut feeling, and the seeming instant willingness to report on pro-tranny markings during the early hours of the investigation, but I have a strong feeling more people are fed up with liberal bullshit than they let on.
