I feel bad for his family. I had assumed he’d be from a difficult, chaotic household because that gives some reason for all the anger at the world. This family doesn’t give any of those vibes. .
The upper middle class/professional class can also have its issues. Many of the nutso people I know IRL come from houses like that.

Professional jobs demand high performance. So mom and dad might be persnickety workaholics, and in order to "carry on" that type of life for you as the child, you need to be a best-of-the-best-of-the-best student, who performs high on all the tests, goes to all the right schools, and just generally perform insanely high level at everything.

It can lead to a situation where there's massive performance pressure 24/7 and very low positive attention from parents due to the fact that only high performance is acceptable, and the parents are already workaholics who are too busy to dole out affection and attention.

Everyone I know from upper class households is a mentally broken wreck due to this family dynamic, so I can very much see someone from such a household snapping and going nuts.

It's kindof funny, because people are looking at his familial situation and assuming political beliefs as a result of that. In a country of 330M+ people, the idea that you can just magically distill one of two flavors from circumstances like that are hilarious. Maybe he really hated Kirk's stances on everything. Maybe he didn't.

This obsession with making the world simple, and making the world make sense, is supposed to be the whole reason we have religion: so people accept that it isn't simple, and that it doesn't make sense. But when you replace the holy spirit with the consoomer spirit, I mean - this is what you get.

Whatever views this guy had, he's 22. When I was 22, I was a retard. It's kindof hard to not be a retard at that age.
>heavily influential right wing political figure shot.
>why is everyone expecting his motive to be politically influenced?

Obv I'm way back in the thread but 100% agree with you. Shocked to see proponents of free speech (including hateful and distasteful speech) so eager to create this canary list equivalent. Like the covid hotline in Canada where neighbors told on each other for not wearing masks.

If someone is saying they'll show up and shootup/ bomb a place, then I understand reporting it. But these people are allowed to have digusting and wrong opinions. How is this different from people losing jobs for refusing to use pronouns? For disagreeing with DEI policies?

Many of us "fled" to this site because we weren't allowed to speak freely on many other subjects. Now that we strongly disagree with the right people, now we are happy to contribute to silencing citizens. Shameful.

Don't be lazy. Fire up your account on whatever platform and tell each person you disagree with why they are wrong. If it is so important for you to see them be punished, give some effort to shame them yourself.
If it was unemployed randos or fast food wagies I wouldn't care but I think it's completely reasonable to fire teachers, and nurses, and police officers, and judges and shit for soyjacking over Kirk's death.

I mean someone is this unhinged do you want them teaching your kids? Do you trust them to be objective and do the right thing in a life or death situation?

I fucking don't, remove DSA.
