Could be true. If people celebrate Kirk's death, there's no doubt some would go to the lengths of protecting the assassin from consequences.

Generally the college requires the individual to pay for the cost of extra security out of pocket which makes sense. You’re going to host your event here and make us the location of your circus show you’re gonna have to dish out the money to cover the 20-30 extra bodies we’re gonna need for security. It’s a little prohibitive but if this is now the result of political grifters using colleges for their media shows I can fully understand stand why the universities don’t want to be involved.
