Deterrent. The greatest benefit of being armed is preventing violence from occurring in the first place.

Most guns in the united states (shocker) have been used to kill or maim exactly 0 people, including the ones people carry around every single day. Muh "injuring or killing living beings" is the absolute last resort when the gun simply being present or brandished isn't enough to defend yourself, which is an absolute outlier. Most people not named "Shaquarius" are not walking around with fucking Rambo fantasies and immediately lighting people up because they looked at them wrong.

Just because you're autistic and can't understand comparisons unless they're exactly 1-to-1 that doesn't make it a bad argument.

If you live in a country where people have free access to cars, you accept that inevitably people are going to die in car accidents or use their cars to kill innocent people. It's an inevitability in a world with free will, but that risk doesn't outweigh the benefits that cars bring. For every life a vehicle is used to take, a hundred more are able to live because those vehicles exist. Cars aren't even a right and people accept that.

The exact same thing is true of guns. You cannot have a country where the citizenry are able to be armed and there to be zero gun deaths, it is an absolute impossibility and expecting otherwise is childish and stupid. Those deaths are tragic and should be prevented as much as possible but they do not outweigh the fundamental benefits that an armed populace brings on both an individual and collective level. The founding fathers wrote for decades on these exact principles and it is baked into the very ideas that this country was built on.

Taking away everyone's civil rights because some pieces of shit misuse them is a terrible idea.

I'm sorry people aren't willing to sit around defenseless and trust that Rackjeep Shamalamadingdong decides not to stab us to death and rape our daughter because we really really don't want him to. If someone tries to kill me I should have every right to stop him before he succeeds, be it in the street or in Washington.

Because why would it matter?
You have a few thousand phones in the area. They aren't tracking you in an amount of time that would actually matter. And in the US you don't have ID requirements for buying sim cards. Lurking the internet for updates probably helps more than it does harm when trying to run.

All of these cartridges take the same 7.62 bullet, its mostly the case that changes depending on the firearm and powder load the country wanted. This is because back in the day the main nations making these were Great Britain and France. The French would eventually supply the Yanks with the machines and tools to make the bullets and barrels due to them being friends and the Brits supplied Russia with their machines because (post war) the Tsar and British monarchy were related and back then they were friends.

Other places you can see this is in artillery/naval guns. Back around the WW1 time, Britain used to make their guns in inch measurements, you will see sizes like 4,6,8inch etc
The two to look at here is:
6inch = 152mm
8inch = 203mm

These were common British gun sizes back then but are now the common Russian sizes because like I said before, they got the machines and tools to make those size barrels off the British.

The other side of this is the French. Back around WW1 times the French used mm to measure theirs, three of their main sizes for artillery were 75mm, 105mm and 155mm. These were then also the common size for American artillery in WW2. Because Britain had a hard time during WW2 and got a lot of their supplies from the Yanks they eventually changed over to those sizes as well, and eventually NATO would use these sizes to become standard. This is not to say both sides didn't use each others measurements from time to time. America played around with so many different sizes its not funny.

So Kiwis if you ever look at Guns/Artillery etc and wonder why they use the measurements they do it all draws back to the Crimean War and the fact its incredibly hard to make Machines and Tooling for barrels.

The fact the shooter went for Charlie Kirk of all people should tell you this isn't some grand conspiracy. My theory is that it's the college kid believing everything they're been told and killing the Nazi.

Killing Charlie Kirk is not like killing the President, it doesn't have people asking you why you did it, or what ails you. It doesn't create discussion or point out a problem like with Luigi Mangione. It's a killing with no purpose, driven by disgust. The same kind of disgust when a pest turns up in your house and you reach for the broom. "KILL IT. KILL IT!"

Premeditation doesn't mean a grudge or something personal or deep. For the shooter, knowing Charlie Kirk is on a campus tour is like knowing that a rat will show up in your house in the next month on a specific day and at a specific time. I think back to Trigglypuff screaming, "keep this hate speech out of this campus." Young, dumb kids think college is their home and have been so numbed to their fellow humans on the right that killing one of them is no different than swatting a fly. That's why they are celebrating: they killed the pest in their home. Now no-one else can get sick from it.
