Horrified onlookers watched as a Texas motel worker allegedly took a machete to a manager's head and chopped it off following an argument about a broken washing machine.

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, stands accused of capital murder in the death of 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at a motel in the 3400 block of Samuell Boulevard on Dallas' east side. Cops said in a press release that the suspect cut the victim with "an edged weapon" several times. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Witness Stephanie Elliott told local ABC affiliate WFAA that the victim tried to run away after the suspect attacked him but he fell.

"He just kept hitting him and hitting until he decapitated him," Elliott said. "I could not believe that anybody would do another human being that way."

The news station also obtained an arrest affidavit, which stated Cobos-Martinez and another motel employee were cleaning a room when the victim came up to the suspect and told him not to use a broken washing machine. Nagamallaiah was speaking to the other employee in the room so she could translate the message to Cobos-Martinez, the affidavit said. This apparently set Cobos-Martinez off as he reportedly walked to another room and came back with a machete before attacking the victim.

Nagamallaiah's wife and son — who were in the motel office — tried to stop the attack by hitting the suspect with a bat, but Cobos-Martinez continued to swing the machete at the victim's neck, eventually chopping it off, cops reportedly said.

Local NBC affiliate KXAS, also citing an affidavit, reported that Cobos-Martinez kicked the decapitated head into the parking lot, picked it up, and dumped it into a dumpster.

Nagamallaiah was the manager for two or three years and was a hardworking employee, the motel property owners told KXAS.

Suspect in Dallas motel beheading charged with capital murder, affidavit reveals what led up to the attack

Police say they arrested the suspect in the fatal attack at the Downtown Suites motel about a block away.

DALLAS — A person was beheaded at a Dallas motel on Wednesday morning, and a suspect is in custody, police say. Both have now been identified.
Police identified the victim as 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah, and the suspect as 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez.

Cobos-Martinez has been charged with capital murder in connection with the killing. Jail records show him listed as an immigrant.
WFAA crews saw dozens of police vehicles on the scene at the Downtown Suites motel in the 3400 block of Samuell Boulevard, near Interstate 30 and the Tenison golf course in East Dallas. The entrance to the motel is blocked off with crime scene tape.

Police say they were called to a stabbing call at the scene around 9:30 a.m. and found a suspect had cut a person "with an edged weapon several times." Dallas Fire-Rescue also responded to the scene, where the victim died.
Officials say the suspect is charged with capital murder, according to an arrest affidavit from the Dallas Police Department
The affidavit details the events that led to the gruesome scene.

According to the affidavit, a witness said she and Cobos-Martinez were cleaning a motel room when the victim, Nagamallaiah, approached and told Cobos-Martinez not to use a broken washing machine.
The witness told police that Cobos-Martinez became upset because the victim was speaking to her to translate rather than speaking directly to him, according to the affidavit.

At that point, surveillance video showed Cobos-Martinez leave the room, pull out a machete and begin attacking Nagamallaiah, who attempted to escape the assault by running to the front office, according to the affidavit.
During the assault, the affidavit said, Cobos-Martinez paused to go through Nagamallaiah’s pockets and took several items. The suspect also fought off the victim’s wife and son multiple times as they tried to intervene.

Stephanie Elliott said she witnessed the attack and told WFAA that the suspect began stabbing the person with a machete after an argument on the motel property, and the victim tried to run away but fell, and the suspect continued stabbing.
"He just kept hitting him and hitting until he decapitated him," Elliott said. "I could not believe that anybody would do another human being that way."
Audio from Broadcastify and police incident detail reports also describe a chase and a suspect armed with a machete "cutting someone's head off."

Dallas Police Executive Assistant Chief Terrence Rhodes said during a press conference that officers patrolling the area responded to take the suspect into custody.

"Our officers were proactively patrolling the area and responded quickly to take the violent criminal into custody," said Rhodes. "Even though [the suspect] was armed with a bladed weapon, the officers showed tremendous restraint and used minimal force to apprehend him. This violent crime will not go unpunished and our department will thoroughly investigate and bring charges against the suspect."

Police also responded to another scene about a block away where the suspect was arrested, officials tell WFAA.

ICE says Cabos-Martinez was recently in ERO Dallas custody at the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, Texas, until he was released on an order of supervision on Jan. 13. The agency claims he was released due to "no removal flights to Cuba."
This is not the first time Cobos-Martinez has made headlines, WFAA found.

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez was arrested in 2017 by South Lake Tahoe police after he attempted to steal a woman's vehicle while naked, according to KRNV, the NBC affiliate near Reno, Nev. Police said Cobos-Martinez walked up to a 22-year-old woman while naked and tried to remove her from her car before getting inside and attempting to steal it with the victim still in the car.
Bystanders pulled him out of the car and he ran to a nearby hotel, where he was arrested, KRNV reported. He was arrested for carjacking and false imprisonment and booked into the El Dorado County Jail, officials said.

He was also previously charged with several crimes in Houston, our sister station KHOU found.

I love a good two for one deal.
Capital murder means they intend to fry you...... so if he ever "completes" his sentence? It'll be in the execution chamber.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Trivia moment - decapitation is one of only two scenarios where an EMT can pronounce death. The other being full-body explosion. In all other cases, they have to perform lifesaving measures or stay on scene until a doctor/coroner calls it.

he attempted to steal a woman's vehicle while naked

I get the feeling this guy doesn't have all his canicas

There is no bad thing which an Indian running a motel in the US could not deserve.

This might strike some readers as harsh blah blah blah... Thankfully one of them did already die and since this is Texas the other will join him before too long.
