Bystanders report seeing Kirk shot near his neck during a Q&A with students.

A suspect is in custody, according to a UVU alert sent to students. The campus is on lockdown.

Finally somewhere my autism is useful. Bullets really don't do jack shit to the air around them as they pass by. Most air disturbance from gunshots are either caused by light collisions (grazing wounds can transfer a fair bit of force), or by the muzzle blast itself following the bullet. For his shirt to move like that, something had to hit it.

From what I’ve seen, and I may just be reading the videos wrong, but it appears that the shooter got on the roof after the event started. Still, between this and the Trump assassination attempt, there clearly needs to be better measures put in place for dealing with potential vantage points.

At the very least get potential targets off the scene the moment you get verifiable reports someone is somewhere they shouldn’t be with a clear LOS on the speaker.
