Charlie Kirk was shot at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah on Wednesday.

Bystanders report seeing Kirk shot near his neck during a Q&A with students.

A suspect is in custody, according to a UVU alert sent to students. The campus is on lockdown.

Multiple reports currently say Charlie Kirk made it to the hospital and is currently stable but the extent of his injuries and likelihood of recovery isn't currently known. He is in critical condition.

Kash was in the trenches big time with closed door senate hearings and all sorts of stuff for Trump and was pretty well regarded but ya the optics are just so bad for him nowadays he's gotta go.
 
Reactions from friends has been uncomfortable sadness and anger. Those that followed Charlie looked up to him as one of the few male role models in 2025. For many in college and high school, Charlie was an easy entry into conservative politics. His assassination is ever so slightly peaking more normies who are shaken from this. Even if you were not into politics, the reputation that Charlie Kirk carried was being a normal conservative, young family guy who wanted to sit and yap about politics debate style for people.

Kirk's death ironically will all but guarantee a whole generation of zoomer men stay reliably red for decades. The left has gone full mask off with this incident not realizing the climate they find themselves in. The fact that his death can be viewed live 4k and that it happened to be such a violent manner is turning normies away from the left. Its giving everyone flashbacks to Trumps assassination attempt where we narrowly missed a civil war. As far as Im concerned however, the war has already started, so pick a side.

The Trump shooter failed and got his brained blown out on a rooftop while the Kirk shooter succeeded and has so far vanished.

Here is the joint FBI/Utah Department of Public Safety statement:
Orem, Utah — At approximately 12:20 pm MST, Political Influencer Charlie Kirk was speaking at a student-sponsored event with Turning Point USA. Charlie was shot during the event at Utah Valley University (UVU), after which he was taken to Timpanogos Regional Hospital and hours later pronounced dead.

This shooting is still an active investigation. The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are co-leading this incident in unison with the Utah County Attorney’s office, the Utah County Sheriff’s office, and the local police departments.

We initially took in George Zinn as a suspect. He was later released and charged with obstruction by UVU police. A second suspect, Zachariah Qureshi, was taken into custody and released after interrogation with law enforcement. There are no current ties to the shooting with either of these individuals. There is an ongoing investigation and manhunt for the shooter.

The FBI has created a digital media tip line for information regarding this shooting at fbi.gov/UtahValleyShooting. We ask the public to please provide any information they may have to this tip line.

DPS’s State Crime Lab, along with all law enforcement involved, are working multiple active crime scenes. These were identified based on where the victim was shot, as well as the locations where the suspect and victim traveled.

The shooting is believed to be a targeted attack. The shooter is believed to have fired from the roof of a building down to the location of the public event in the student courtyard. Any additional clarifications cannot be provided to protect the integrity of our investigation.

To secure the event, UVU PD had six officers working the event. These security measures were in addition to Charlie Kirk’s security detail, who travels with him. Approximately 3,000 people attended. The location of the event was held in the university quad, an outdoor bowl courtyard on campus for events.

This is a tragic moment for Utah and our country. As we all heal, we encourage those who need help to call 988, our state’s mental health crisis line.

This is actually something that kind of boggles my mind. Was speaking with a shitlib acquaintance who was fairly level headed about this event, but for some reason she was very interested in if this took place in a gun free zone. Part of me wishes I could understand what's happening in these peoples heads, the other part of me is very glad that I cannot.
