Currently. Reminder that Intel was on top for decades and still has the majority of the consumer PC market. AMD has made inroads into the server and PC space, but not as much as the hype.
This was on techlinked the other day, but there's gonna be a wafer place in Texas. So the us is inching closer to being chips independent / self-reliance.
If you look at the Steam Hardware survey, Intel is still king. but AMD is slowly chipping away at their numbers. Valve doesn't say what exact cpu models people are running. so people could be using decades old hardware back to the first Core i3/5/7 cpus.
Every other major competitor in Intel's space is state-owned or a national champion. The US is simply playing the game the way everyone else does.
Exactly. And while age of hardware is questionable, if is representative of a wider trend. The place I work almost exclusively runs Intel computers. AMD has shilled fucking hard the last few years.
