I had a friend who was diagnosed with leukemia at age 23 and needed a bone marrow transplant, which also involves wiping out your original immune system. She was in and out of the hospital frequently during the time (~4 years) getting chemo, leading up to the transplant, the transplant itself, and she also ended up back in the hospital with graft vs host disease that got pretty severe at one point. However she was not *constantly* hospitalized for four years. During the times she was doing a bit better, she could go outpatient, with the caveat that if things took a turn for the worse she would need to go back to hospital (which happened many times, and which, unlike Vicky, she did not enjoy.)I wonder if steroids are contraindicated because she really wants the “various infusions that wipe out the immune system?” If your immune system is completely wiped out you’d have to stay in some kind of isolation room in bed, right? Maybe even in the hospital?
When she wasn't hospitalized though she had to be really careful about risk of infection. She avoided places like the subway (used cabs instead) and was leery of eating out because it meant the mask would have to come off.
She is thankfully recovered and cancer free now and has somewhat of a functioning immune system now but she's going to need to monitor that situation for the rest of her life and will probably always have to be paranoid about infection control.
Those prices don't include tax, and NYC has like three different taxes assessed on hotel rooms. Per ChatGPT:In other words, she's padding the total so she can get some DoorDash with her Saturday night Manhattan hotel.
Even at $200/night, that's $6k/month! We know she's not fundraising at anything like that rate. Hilarious how she will not admit that she has some kind of parental backing.
So on a $200 per night room, that's like $33 extra for tax. So yeah she's still padding the total but not that much. The total hotel tax rate is approximately 14.75%, which includes a New York State tax of 8.875% and a New York City tax of 5.875%. In addition to these percentage-based taxes, there is a flat $2 per night hotel room occupancy tax and a $1.50 per day New York State Hotel Unit Fee, also known as the Javits Center fee.
