I've seen a couple in the past few years remodel with this reality in mind, creating a whole mini-ward of rooms for people who definitely need admitting but have nowhere to go just now. One even made two mini-wards- one for medical, one for psych. Until the remodel such folks were being warehoused in back-of-the-ward rooms that reminded me of the "spare room" my grandmother kept her canned goods in. Of course you gotta be shelf-stable to qualify for the canning room. Too perishable and they will just have to find some way to jam you into an ICU bed.
Yeah, we have those too. They're called short stay units and part of the ED. You can be there for a few hours through to a couple of days and are often discharged from them without being admitted to a ward. Quite a few hospitals have the psych part, too.

It does streamline the ED process as it gets people fast-tracked out of the waiting room and the recliner bays, while leaving the resus bays free for full-on emergencies. You're still going to sit out in the waiting room with your IV after bloods have been taken if you present with a minor issue, though, which I suspect would piss off your average munchie.

@TheCakeIsALie do people need to start looking more closely at your potential to be a munchie? Did the New York Times get back to you about doing a super special article on your super special rare undiagnosable disease? Did you have a Mayo Clinic arc??

No one here gives a shit about your health bullshit. It's really not hard to hide your powerlevel. Go find a knitting circle or bingo group or subreddit to shit up.

It was relevant, though, you dyslexic moron. I don’t want this to be a new fat acceptance thread either (where half the posts are just people documenting how much better they are than all the fatties), but I learned how closely HMs can resemble strokes from Cake’s post.
1.) it’s not that hard to spoiler a powerlevel, which is a rule in this thread, if pertinent to the discussion.

2.) it’s not that hard to link a study or scientific article referencing hemiplegic migraines mimicking stroke and vice versa as it’s a well-known medical phenomenon, and not use a powerlevel at all.

This is an on-topic board and this is an on-topic thread within an on-topic board. The subject of this thread is narrowly: people on social media whose content is mostly about their medical bullshit. Therefore, it can inferred, that any other discussion (i.e. your own medical bullshit) is not relevant here.

The real issue with powerleveling is that (1) nobody cares and (2) it draws attention to you, the author, instead of the point. You can actually make points without powerleveling.

Q.E.D.
Powerleveling: "I know that that munchie is lying about ass maggots because I've had maggots in my ass and it doesn't work that way."
Not powerleveling: "That munchie is lying about ass maggots because ass maggots don't work that way."
Also not powerleveling: "Ass maggots don't work that way, here's an article from the NIH." (implying you are using your secret ass maggots knowledge to find articles that support what you know already from anecdotal experience.)

This applies to everything. "As a nurse, I know you're not supposed to put in a syringe that way." You don't need to appeal to authority. This isn't reddit. If someone gets pissy with your interpretation ("actually I have ass maggots right now and I know for a fact this happens all the time"), you can still avoid replying with your own powerleveling by just citing sources. If that person continues to argue you should just ignore them because literally nobody cares and it does not matter anyways. If they don't take the hint and keep trying to argue after you ignore them, you can report them, because garuanteed everyone is sick of their shit.

I don't think cheese is a particularly effective remedy for either strokes or powerlevelling.
I've never felt more retarded then when I read your comment and tried to figure out what the fuck was going on, because I didn't realize that I misspelled fucking diary

I’ve had personal interactions with Anna. I don’t want to divulge too much into why or how because I know how the farms is, and afraid of the hate (even though the reason was legitimate) etc, but I will say I spent several hours with her and she’s just as self absorbed and clueless as she seems. She is an idiot. She really believes she has the rare obesity genes and tried to explain to me about genetics. She also laughed in response to something I said which was a very inappropriate reaction to the situation. She also thinks everyone who is hypermobile has hEDS even if it’s caused by Marfans or another actual medical disorder.

I am an open person and don’t mind answering questions but the situation is complicated and I don’t want people making assumptions about myself or the motivations. I would love to talk about the background as to how this happened and why and would consider doing so only if this info was out of legitimate curiosity and not as fodder on myself as it deals with a very serious issue.

As you know, I am a long time farmer (9 years!) and enjoy the snark here :)
So here is a link to the first post, where @TheCakeIsALie basically phone booked herself in the Anna O'Brian thread (she outright says who she is in her next post). Not only did she go on Anna's munchie podcast, she for some reason also felt the need to tell everyone about it on her main KF account.
I totally get @Zemblan Physics, but this is just not a user I can give the benefit of the doubt, and the power leveling has gotten kind of ridiculous. Since Null clarified the pl rule, I'll just hope it will get better again ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing! Do people here generally use their page like this?
It honestly doesn't even matter whether she's a munchie or just OTT. She comes off as 100% crazy in the interview.

Damn, you know it’s bad when Null shows up in the munchie thread to clarify about power leveling.

Not sure why it’s not letting me reply to @Polychromos, but uh, you wanna share a link to that podcast?

How long until we have a timeline on thecakeisalie? Or will they DFE before then?

Here is a link to the preview. If the full podcast was posted in the thread I seem to be to retarded to find it right now :(

If someone could spoon feed me how to sort quotes on mobile, I'd be very greatful. It won't let me drag the symbols.

I knew something smelled off about this self-righteous little spiel:

But here’s the thing: I had it, and I’m dealing. Don’t want a pity party and sure as fck don’t want to abuse the system. The er isn’t the supermarket or toy shop. It’s actually rather annoying and inconvenient to be sitting in one. Full of sick people and codes all the day long. Trauma, code blue, etc etc. it’s noisy af, no thanks.

Just checked their still very active Reddit that was linked in the Glitterfat thread and it seems they literally can't go a single day without telling people about their rare genetic disorder, so it's honestly pretty surprising that they only PL occasionally on the Farms.

Some good milk, this is just the first page. TheCakeisaLie /perfect_fifths has claim to something called trichorhinophalangeal syndrome type 1. There are only 200-250 people in the world who have it, according to whichever number Cake feels like posting today.

And they moderate the SSDI subreddit lmfao

Thanks @Lawltism2 for bringing this diary to this dairy.

Yeah that'll improve things. Also lol at "it seems like ever since you knew you had a hip problem it’s just gotten worse…" Come to think of it, suspected labral tears was Vicky Markoff's unnecessary wheelchair origin story as well right? Anyway she's super hyped to get an MRI and get both hips replaced, she already knows the required PT is not going to help.

That's not "diagnosing yourself," that's bringing your suspicions to a doctor and having them diagnose you.

Guy I used to play D&D with had a hip replacement. Dude went through weeks of agony, the surgery is brutal. They hammer the replacement joint down into the bone with a literal fucking mallet. Most surgeons in other specialisms have a very low opinion of orthopaedics, saying they're just brutal, unskilled sawbones and the lowest iq surgeons (though they don't hate them as much as they hate gastro surgeons, apparently they're all insufferable).

Anyway, to actually be looking forward to not one, but two (at least, it sometimes takes more than one try) of these acts of absolute vivisection is utterly insane. Given the choice between a hip replacement and eating literal shit, I'd be chowing down on that turd like a fatty at a buffet.

Does she realise that pretty intense physiotherapy is a vital part of the rehabilitation process following hip replacement?
