This imbecilic view is disturbingly mainstream. In fact, a major factor in the Democrats shooting themselves in the foot, yet again, was their delusional belief that all people vote according to their race (Your race is your Team!), while legal Latino citizens, particularly the naturalised ones who went through the proper immigration procedures, overwhelming HATE the illegals.

People almost solely vote on the basis of their party affiliation. While there are fewer black Democrats, even the whitest hating anti-Semitic black Democrats would overwhelmingly vote for the Jewiest Jew who got the nomination, and even the most racist white Republicans would overwhelmingly vote for a dude black as the Ace of Spades if he got the nomination.
