This incident happened in São Paulo, Brazil.

There are several types of police forces in Brazil and they often invade slums looking for drug dealers, especially in cities like São Paulo.

This time, two different police forces were in a slum in an uncoordinated operation, resulting in a police officer from the military police (ROTA in his case) shooting and killing a police officer from civil police (investigative police/judicial police/detective divison).

Military police conducts visible patrol while the civil police is responsible for investigating crimes. Sometimes their duties overlap, and they may work together. Unfortunately, this time they weren't aware of each other's presence.

The cop who got shot was taken to hospital where he died 5 days later as result of his injuries. He sustained 3 gunshots wounds to the chest/upper torso and, apparently, wasn't wearing a bulletproof vest.

In the video, we can hear the officer who just got shot saying:

"Ouch, police, fuck, I'm police! Ouch"

The friends of the officer who got shot are also heard saying repeatedly:

"Police, fuck it"

"Fuck it! Your asshole!"

The officer who shot said with fear in his voice at the same time he raised his hands and lowered his weapon:

"Police, police police, police"

And then he also says:

"call the rescue"

(which would be the equivalent to EMS in the US)

The civil police officers kept saying:

"You killed my partner"

the whole interaction remains pretty much the same, the buddies of the officer who got shot keep saying swearing words like "up your ass" and the ROTA officer who fired the shots, asks them to calm down and also asks his partner to assist the officer who was shot.

Near the end of the video, one the civil police officers asked if the action was recorded and the ROTA officer replied: "yes, it's recorded", then the civil police officer said: "got it".

A sad incident. An officer has a split second to think and react, especially in hostile environments like slums, regardless a life was lost and there should be some sort of punishment.

Update:

The ROTA cop who shot and killed the the other cop, was involved in a similar fatal incident in the same area a month ago. Unfortunately for his, this time was a cop, so he might face some serious consequences as he deserves, so that he might stop shooting at people.

UPDATE:

So the story might be even more sinister.

Apparently the investigative police had a warrant to arrest the drug lord. The Rota officer who shot had the keys of the gate (he said he found the keys on some stairs and assumed it would open that gate) so everything leads us to believe that the officer who shot the civil police officer was actually trying to protect the drug lord and the shooting was intentional, he did that to stop from them from doing their job. It's common in Brazil as well as in other countries that police accept bribes from drug lords to let them operate or even to protect them, which seems to be this case.

A man died last week after being pulled into an MRI machine by a "large metallic chain" police said he was wearing around his neck – highlighting the importance of checking for any metallic objects before going near the powerful magnets used in the medical imaging machines.
The 61-year-old died Thursday, a day after Nassau County police said he was pulled into the MRI machine at Nassau Open MRI in Westbury, New York, on Long Island. The victim was wearing "a large metallic chain around his neck causing him to be drawn into the machine," prompting an unspecified "medical episode," police said in a news release.

The man's entry to the room "while the scan was in progress" was not authorized, police said.

He was taken to a hospital in critical condition before he was declared dead the following day. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Police have not identified the victim, but CNN affiliate News 12 Long Island reported his name was Keith McAllister, according to his wife, Adrienne Jones-McAllister. She told the station she was the one undergoing the MRI.

"He went limp in my arms," Jones-McAllister said through tears.

A person who answered the phone at Nassau Open MRI on Sunday said it had no comment.

Used often for disease detection and diagnosis, MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, according to the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. The technology relies in part on powerful magnets to stimulate protons within a patient, who is placed inside the machine, allowing doctors to capture detailed images of the patient's anatomy.

That strong magnetic field, however, emanates beyond the MRI machine, posing a threat to those who might be wearing metallic objects or have them implanted. The magnets exert "very powerful forces on objects of iron, some steels, and other magnetizable objects," the scientific institute notes, with enough strength "to fling a wheelchair across the room."

Jones-McAllister was getting an MRI on her knee, she told News 12, and needed help getting up afterwards. She said she asked the MRI technician to retrieve her husband for assistance.

"I yelled out Keith's name, 'Keith, Keith, come help me up,'" Jones-McAllister said. According to News 12, Jones-McAllister said her husband was wearing around his neck a 20-pound chain with a large lock he used for weight training.

"At that instant, the machine switched him around, pulled him in, and he hit the MRI," Jones-McAllister said. She said she and the technician tried to pry her husband away from the machine.

"I'm saying, 'Could you turn off the machine? Call 911. Do something. Turn this damn thing off!'"

Because of the risks posed by an MRI machine's magnetic field, patients are urged to notify their doctors about any medical implants prior to an MRI, in case they contain any metallic materials. Pacemakers, insulin pumps and cochlear implants are all examples of implants that the NIBIB says should under no circumstances enter an MRI machine.

But items outside the machine pose risks as well, as last week's tragedy in Westbury demonstrated. Anything magnetic – from something as small as keys, to something as large (or larger) than an oxygen tank – can become a projectile, threatening the safety of anyone nearby.

"Metal in a room that has the magnet will fly across the room to the scanner, to this large magnet, and will really hit anything in its way," Dr. Rebecca Smith-Bindman, a radiologist, told CNN in 2011.

"So within radiology training, one learns very early that that's not OK, that you can't have external metal in the room, and you can't have metal in the patient," she said. "That could lead to a problem."

These accidents have happened in the past: In 2001, a 6-year-old boy was killed during an MRI at a hospital in Valhalla, New York, after a metal oxygen tank flew across the room when the machine's electromagnet turned on.

The magnetized tank struck the child, who died of blunt force trauma injuries.

These events are rare, according to the US Food and Drug Administration. Still, "(c)areful screening of people and objects entering the MR environment is critical to ensure nothing enters the magnet area that may become a projectile," the agency says.

What should have been a family vacation night at the beach ended in a devastating scene that has gone viral on social media and sparked national outrage. Sagid Carreón Calderón, a 36-year-old from Morelia, Michoacán, was electrocuted and died in the jacuzzi of his room at the Pacífica Resort Ixtapa hotel in Guerrero on the night of Tuesday, July 22. The moment of the incident was partially recorded on video by his family.
According to the testimony of his wife, Estefanía (Phanni), the family had reported irregularities since they arrived at the hotel villa. That night, Sagid, his children, and she decided to use the jacuzzi, but as soon as he got in, he began to complain about feeling "electric shocks." At first, they thought it was a joke. However, Estefanía also felt a shock as she approached the water, so she asked her husband to get out.

The hydromassage system was on, as were the lights at the bottom of the jacuzzi. Although they turned the system off, Sagid remained standing, visibly affected, waiting for help. For at least 15 minutes, no hotel employee arrived. Estefanía asked one of her children to record what was happening to have a record of it.

The footage shows Sagid on the edge of the jacuzzi, holding onto a railing. In a desperate attempt to get out, he tried to jump toward the terrace, but it was at that moment that he received a powerful shock. His body convulsed and he fell with his hands clenched, turning completely blue. His mother-in-law pulled him out of the water and Estefanía performed CPR on him while they waited for help.

DCI officers used forensic analysis to track down the suspects, who are now in custody as investigations continue. Police said the duo will be arraigned in court once the probe is complete.

The National Police Service (NPS) has condemned the barbaric act, terming it a clear case of mob injustice. In a statement, they called on Kenyans to uphold the rule of law and report criminal suspects to the relevant authorities instead of resorting to violence.

“This incident highlights a worrying trend of citizens taking the law into their own hands. Such actions will not be tolerated,” said a senior officer.

Authorities have promised to ensure justice is served and that all those involved are held accountable. The condition of the victim remains unclear as police continue to piece together the events surrounding the attack.

The Public Prosecutor's Office of the Espaillat Prosecutor's Office requested the coordinating judge of the Court of Instruction to close the case against the defendant Vicente Basilio Henriquez Rosario, who last Saturday shot a farmer and injured three other people in an incident reported inside a grocery store located in the Amaceyes community, San Víctor municipality, Espaillat province.

The request was made by the coordinating prosecutor of the Espaillat Investigations Department, Michael José Taveras Taveras, and the technical director of investigations, Grabiel Pereyra.

Some eyewitnesses near the scene told our correspondent said the accident occurred within a short period of time as the victims who were mostly doing their usual night business did not see the incoming trailer towards them.

One of the eyewitnesses, who gave his name simply as Uche, said, "The crash, which occurred at about 9:30pm yesterday(Friday) came as a shock given the short period within which everything happened.

"The people were doing their usual night business and engaging in their usual activities while some passengers were waiting to board vehicles when the trailer uncontrollably rammed into them, knocking many down, including motorcyclists, a little girl, bystanders, and some petty traders.

"Some road users who saw the trailer on time as it was dangerously approaching the area were able to escape the tragedy. Several persons who were knocked were mostly those waiting to board vehicles and some people doing business near the park.

"The bodies of the victims lay on the ground before the rescue operations from pedestrians and the arrival of security operatives."

When contacted on the development on Saturday, the Spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra sector, Margaret Onabe, confirmed the incident, but could not give the actual casualty figure.

Three friends (two boys, who looked to be between 10 and 12 years old, and a 14-year-old girl) arrived at Kuskovo station at around 9:00 p.m. The two schoolchildren, wanting to have fun and experiment with a dangerous, prohibited hobby, climbed onto the roof of the second-to-last car of the train traveling from Moscow and began to tug on the power cable that was attached to the current collector. The boys raised and lowered the pantograph several times.

Their older friend decided to join the hooligans. The girl climbed onto the carriage, but accidentally grabbed the conductive parts. The young girl was electrocuted, and at the same second she fell from a height of 3.5 meters to the ground.

The schoolgirl died on the spot from her injuries. Passengers on the departing train reported the emergency to 112. Police officers and an ambulance soon arrived at the scene of the incident, and doctors confirmed the victim's death.

Neighbors heard the screams and the scene. The Military Police, the Fire Department, and SAMU were called and confirmed the victim's death at the scene.

The forensic examination revealed seven stab wounds: in the back, on the left side of the body, and on the back of the neck. The victim was not carrying identification and has not yet been officially identified. He is described as a dark-skinned man, approximately 35 to 40 years old.

Witnesses told police that the perpetrator had recently arrived in the area and was sheltering in the same abandoned house where he was seen in the footage. According to reports, he had previously been involved in disputes with other homeless people in the area.

After the screams for help, a witness saw the attack through the window, and an acquaintance of hers tried to follow the attacker on a bicycle, but was unable to catch him.

35-year-old veteran shot and killed at point-blank by hitman who posed as customer - Yuty, Paraguay (2025.08.01)

At approximately 5:00 p.m. this Friday, a homicide with a firearm was reported in the city of Yuty , with Bartolomé Vega Caballero, 35 , as the victim .

This man, a veterinarian by profession, was in his private clinic when he was shot and killed by an unknown person.

A lone hitman arrived at the establishment on a motorcycle and opened fire on the victim, who was working at the time of the incident.

Minutes earlier, the shooter had arrived at the veterinary clinic posing as a client and waited for about 10 minutes until everyone there had left so he could commit the crime.

Preliminary data indicate that Vega was shot at least twice, one in the back of the head . He was later rushed to the Yuty District Hospital.

Once at the hospital, doctors did everything they could to save his life, but given the severity of his injuries and the amount of blood he had lost, nothing could be done, and he eventually died.

The Prosecutor's Office and the National Police have already intervened and are investigating the case. At this time, the background to the homicide is unclear.

The deceased Rohan is the son of Bablu Mridha of Paschim Madhnagar village in the upazila. The accident occurred on the Naldanga Railway Bridge at around 6 pm on Friday (August 1). Eyewitnesses and local residents said that while crossing the Naldanga Bridge, he was run over by a Dhaka-bound Panchagarh Express train coming from behind and was cut into pieces. Later, Naldanga police inspected the scene and the Naldanga Fire Service recovered the body.


Motorcycle rider backing into street is rammed into by truck - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2025.08.02)

At around 10:30 a.m., a pickup truck traveling from Thu Duc market to Hanoi highway suddenly veered to the right near the intersection with Hoang Dieu 2 street, hit an electric pole on the side of the road, and hit a man who had just left his motorbike at an aquarium shop.

The strong collision caused the electric pole to break in half and fall on its side; the front of the car was severely damaged, with debris flying nearly ten meters away. The motorbike was deformed. The car driver (42 years old) was unconscious in the car and was taken to the emergency room by local people along with the victim on the motorbike. However, the driver did not survive. It's suspected he suffered a stroke.

Mr. Minh Phuong, who lives near the scene, said the driver may have suffered a stroke before the accident happened. "The car was going very fast, even though the road was quite crowded at that time," he said.

Security camera footage shows the car speeding before it crashed onto the sidewalk and hit a man walking a motorbike.

Traffic police have blocked off the scene, examined and investigated the cause of the accident.

This reminds me of a similar incident that also happened in Mexico of a kid who died in a current pool because the resort just did a garbage job and it had a massive suction hole for the filter that was way too exposed and trapped the kid underwater. Can't remember the name but I know it went in a similar way: hotel did nothing, then used lawyers to stonewall the family and get out of any responsibility.

It's crazy how much of a shithole Mexico is. As bad as Brazil is I can't really think of incidents like these happening, where there is some fucking tragedy and the response of the people in charge is such blatant and complete non-reaction.

I read somewhere that medieval executions had the person face down when getting beheaded because the main goal was to actually break the neck/spinal cord to cause death. Most executioners were just regular people from whatever town or village. Highly skilled executioners were in the large cities like London or Paris and were paid well to put on a show ala heads flying off and gore.

In modern day, there is the same excuse. Amateurs trying to behead people. They aren't skilled enough. The videos of the professional Muslim executioners lopping off a head in one swipe are an example of a pro. Jose and Manny sawing and sawing a guy's neck like a cheap steak is amateur hour.

Plus, machetes are made for bushwhacking and not slicing. Like an axe, they are more for blunt force chopping and not for slicing.
