He tried to play the heel, when he first started hanging with KC though. They really inflated his ego, when they invited him on to shit on RTU, because Phil is easier to gaslight than a small child. They had him thinking he was the king of the world after that. Then he had that interview with Stuttering Craig where he was uncomfortably belligerent, did his darndest to shit on Craig and came off like even more of a gigantic fucking sped than usually. Massive own goal. Same thing with the King Snake stream. My mind still can't comprehend wtf he was going for there. He looked insane (which he is) and even RTU looked somewhat normal, next to him. In order to succesfully embrace a villain role you need to possess at least a little understanding of social dynamics and their nuances.
Deep down, I think Paul wants to be an asshole, because he's a miserable loser. But he's also a massive pussy and without people in his corner, he won't go out of his way to antagonise anyone outside of his hugbox.
