I’m done with the ephebophilia v pedophilia stuff. There’s too much abuse potential built into adults and whatever cutoff the ephebos choose to use today. Create penalties for adults and teenagers fucking. Overall benefit outweighs the extremely hypothetical detriment.

Teenage pregnancy haven't been a norm for a very long time - the average age of the first birth have been in the early-to-mid 20s since the 1500s or thereabouts. People talk about this sort of thing like people weren't going ick if a 40 year old man knocked up a 14 year old; it's just that the situation was usually solved by a shot gun marriage since the kid was on the way even if they liked it or not.

Based for calling out the insanity of mutilating kids, total insanity on her take of fucking kids. Even if you ignore the general power imbalance, the kids at Epstein's island were trafficked. I’ve been saying all throughout this thread that she is not someone to have common cause over. Not to pat myself on the back for that but people need to stop giving her the benefit of the doubt. Just laugh at her insanity and move on.

this is a generation gap thing. she's not wrong in the sense that there is a huge social shift that happened and nobody acknowledges it.

what's she's describing is the world of the sexual revolution, which ended in part exactly because young teens having sex with adult men is extremely destructive. But when the sexual revolution was happening the distinction in the mind of the culture was between good girls and girls who would have sex with you. When those are your categories, there is not a significant difference between a physically mature 15yo and a legal adult. We use different moral categories, we think about these things totally and completely differently, and the change happened very fast.

oh, and about whether she's statistically correct about teen pregnancy? I find it super interesting that in all the endless debate about this issue that has been happening since fucking usenet literally no one discusses what is actually going on. Who has shotgun weddings at 14? Poor people. Whose family tree has 15yo first time mothers over and over and over? Poor people. Again, the sexual revolution upended the old order so completely that people no longer even remember it, the connections between being respectable and trustworthy in your community in business and as a neighbor and also being able to keep your reproductive habits within the bounds of custom.
