Your problem is that you approach the situation from the viewpoint of a normal human being. Ian is not one of those anymore. Doubtless he was always somewhere on the autism spectrum, but SSRIs and Anus have literally hollowed this man out. Ian is not his own person. Has anyone read The Dionaea House? Ian is like one of the Fake People, spat back out by Anus. He is what Anus wants him to be - nothing more, nothing less; a literal manchild who follows her around like a lost puppy. I think it's plausible that - per the boxing coach's statements - Anus actually does need to tell him when to eat and drink and sleep. It isn't some sort of controlling behaviour; they're well past that. She ordered him to go and get fucked up because she felt personally slighted, and he did it.

Ian does not have enough manhood left to even feel jealousy. The fact that his wife was posting pictures of her clam on their wedding day does not bother him, because he lacks the internal chemistry and emotional independence to experience jealousy. The only thing that can actually emotionally rattle him at this point is Anus leaving him.
