As to Judge Holden's story... Sad and relatable. I lost a lot of family over the years and their descents were a lot like his uncle's. Thats been my experience too, and usually if you slip them an extra $20-$50 they’ll help you haul some stuff around.

My normal persons response to seeing their car boxed in would be along the lines of ‘gee golly gosh, I am a bit of a retard today, could you move those things so I can pull my car out and park it elsewhere? I’ll give you an extra $20 and there’s some cold beer/soda if you want some’.
