Over-brushing can wear away enamel and make gums recede really quickly.
It has to be really bad compared to not brushing at all, but if it’s OCD-level of over brushing then it might be worse.

Very true, but considering his teeth are still seemingly going strong, I'm assuming it's more of a "keeps the toothpaste in his mouth for half an hour and absentmindedly/gently brushes" so his teeth are probably getting a much longer opportunity to remineralize than the average person who only brushes for 2 minutes or less and rinses immediately after (or if you're Ian, who knows how often/long he brushes :cryblood: ).
