There was a statistical study (on Indian data so no affirmative action) that showed women's lack of representation at the top tiers of the game can be entirely explained by (10x) fewer female players.
The greatest female player ever, Judit Polgár, is not a fan of sex segregation, because (she said as a young girl), girls playing against girls aren't really trying and don't become (paraphrased) autistically dedicated to chess.
I love Judit, but she's a bit of a ladder-puller. The most important reason for why women's chess exists is to give organizations, from clubs to countries, more titles to win and provide a reason to scout and train girls. It's as much effort to train a girl as it is to train a boy, but a girl has a 10x greater chance to win something. A sexist scrote of a trainer would consider training a girl, and a moderately sexist nation would invest in women's chess to maximize medal and title count.

Men likely do have an advantage in darts. Men’s arms and elbows are structured in a way that is more favourable to throwing. They have longer arms so are closer to the dartboard.

Finally their bigger size gives them a slower heartbeat, which is known to be an advantage in archery (as it helps with steadying the hand while holding the bow), and I suspect it has some level of advantage in darts as well, because tiny differences make a huge impact in accuracy and scoring.
