It depends on the addict and the substance.

Amphetamine pills? Easily fixable.
Alcholism? Fixable.
Crack/meth? Possible but much harder.
Needles? Very low chance of recovery....
Needels filled with things you don't even know what they are? This is where people are pretty much gone.

I generally LIKE sammich, but it struck a nerve that I came at this from the “police your own” perspective

If you’re some kind of huwite savior, then carrying junkies who don’t carry themselves is a fucking setback.

I myself am not a huwite savior. I enjoy casual racism for bants and past that, I don’t fucking care. It’s not likely that in the long term, an ethnicity comprising 26%-28% of this hemisphere is going to “win” when they have a consistent sub replacement birth rate. I’ve moved on from worrying about shit that will not change

There’s a shelter two blocks from that park. It’s a choice that is repeated every day. There are fucking woods around if they felt like walking to the river side or the train tracks, but they take shits in the park, drag filthy fucking mattresses in there, try to set up tents, and have their fucking drugs delivered to the park that my kids can see out of our window and want to go fucking play on the slides they can SEE at all times

Call the cops, they take off and are back that night, going through our cars

One of these fucks tried a home invasion while I was at work and kept pounding on the door and trying to force it for a half a fucking hour, traumatizing my kids

However the fuck you are defining your substance problems, if you were doing this shit you should be shot dead

I tend to doubt you were a full fledged junkie or even understand the type of person I’m talking about, but my city made it into two separate BBC documentaries about the opioid epidemic so we’re pretty fucking special over here right now
