My husband and I have been together for nearly as long as Nick and Kayla. We've been best friends since basically the second we met. At this point I can't imagine my life without having him there as my partner, companion, and confidant. Our marriage is a safe haven where we can be open and honest and vulnerable and share things that we can't share with the rest of the world.

We've actually been discussing this very issue while following the Balldo spiral (Mr. Sniper is also a former viewer), and violating that safe haven is completely unthinkable to both of us. Like we can't even fathom having such a breakdown in communication that we'd consider opening our marriage or swinging or any of the other degenerate shit Nick and Kayla got into to "fix things". If my husband was ever unfaithful, it would be such a violation of trust that I wouldn't be able to come back to the relationship at all, let alone settle for being the one he decided to keep.

I go back and forth on how sympathetic I am toward Kayla. I don't think she's very intelligent or strong willed, and she was very likely an easy mark for Nick to manipulate. But at the same time, she let this happen to her kids, and the fact that she's still there after all of this makes me believe that the swinging wasn't entirely Nick's idea.

I think Nick just fell for the "drugs make me feel so good that they HAVE to be good for me! Anyone saying they're bad just hasn't taken them them and can't understand! I'm in complete control, and drugs should be made legal and normalized because I prove that they're not bad for you at all!" trick.

1. He's still seeing April & doesn't want to piss her off
2. He feels he needs to convince April they had something deep & meaningful to keep her on his side
3. There's some family/community members he has to convince of the legitimacy of the relationship for whatever reason (Celeste to keep her on side?)
4. He genuinely hates Kayla & the kids & wants to leave footage that they'll find & be hurt by in the future (if they haven't already seen it)
5. He has to convince himself the relationship was worth the devastation it has caused in every other aspect of his life
6. All of the above

I will not state my opinion as to why that is (no it’s not because of guys like Fapcop who think she’s cute).

She’s just as complicit in all of this as Nick is, and when it comes to things like “she didn’t feed/bathe them keeds, do laundry, or clean the house even though she didn’t/doesn’t have a job” she’s even more complicit.

I truly believe that if a psychologist took a serious exam of Nick there would be a massive DSM list of mental illnesses. Trying to understand his actions is absolutely bewildering, more bewildering than any lolcow I can think of.

Like just think of the bodycam, it would be totally rational if Nick fought to keep it offline because it’s embarrassing to himself and his entire family. But Nick doesn’t want it to be just be lost media. On his own volition he uploaded photos of what simply is a cluttered messy house for everyone to see. He went out of his way to verify that the descriptions of the bodycam seem accurate. He likes the attention, he lives for it. He is so happy that Null and everyone who a-logs him continues this fascination.

So back to April I think he’s got a huge control obsession and he loves that this 20-something woman is living under his wing. It just screams megalomaniac.
