I think she was actually being true in saying that she wouldn't voice Paimon anymore as there is no voicelines from Corina in the new Traveler voicelines for this patch (Yeah, yeah, not too many pay attention to those unless you really engaged with the overall lore or like seeing the Travlers's & Paimon's relationship) starting at the "About the Curse of the Night..." voiceover

Rememento has gotten a really bad crashing problem. Granted they stated they plan to fix it but I'm a little worried they said "certain mobile phones" and not pc which is the one I'm playing. Hopefully it will include the pc.

Not only that but according to players way further than me, the Japanese voice lines just randomly switches back to Korean.

Either this is a glitch or they have not fully recorded the JP voice lines.

Soft launches are legit but do they usually come out as such buggy messes with very few features to keep people's attention?

Sounds like cope to excuse their poor marketing and unpolished product.

Edit. I suppose I must eat my words. The soft launch and deliberate lack of marketing were intentional since they didn't want too many people playing it during this period as they were still baking it. But people, mainly redditors, got hold of the news, and it spread like wildfire. Thus, it's been assumed that they will do proper marketing once the soft launch becomes an official one.

Which makes sense, although it doesn't really excuse the lack of controller support and how ugly it looks.

One could argue it would excuse the many crashes and bugs and wonky translation and alleged voice language issue I mentioned, but I don't know about that, considering the game has been out for five months in East Asia. So is it an issue with the game or with the global server itself?

Only time will tell.

i lurk this thread just because the FAG-AFTRA strikes are relevant to me (because they're extremely funny and also very gay) and i also like seeing how most of this game's english VA has evaporated because of them. it comes up once in a while in my friend circles. but i can't suppress the urge to reply to this post.

In other news, if anyone plays Limbus Company (i always get it confused with rev1999), there was some drama recently because the devs released an extremely overpowered unit that has a broken sinergy with another unit, to the point they announced they would NERF both units and give +30 rolls and refund every roll you did on her banner.
"refunding every roll" has to be the dumbest concept in the world. any human being working for that company must know that is not "compensation". so, they gave 30 bonus rolls. how the fuck is that "compensation"? first of all you cannot compensate lottery attempts because it's a fucking lottery. second of all, they don't address all the sad people who decided not to roll because of the situation. if anything some real compensation might be something like an entire pity ceiling's worth of free rolls, no expiry date + other consumables, materials, whatever else. when you fuck up like this you have some shoes to lick and dicks to suck.

Paimon’s much hated VA apparently picked the perfect time to leave - logged into Genshin, turns out it’s Paimon’s Bitthday.

EN Paimon got the best birthday present, and I only regret that I didn’t get to make that joke first - I’m stealing that from Zuccbook. Again, it’s funny how even Normies and Redditors(!) hate Corina, it’s almost impressive.

The new genshin theater with a cryo/dendro (+electro) "reaction" is here and it was fairly fun assuming you have at least 5 dendros use the reactions eveery room. It creates a circle that does dendro+cryo damage and if you add electro it becomes a shockzone with crazy damage. I recommend restarting until you get dendro+cryo to at least to level 3, and at level 5 with one electro it will borderline carry you.

We getting elixir for star rewards now, get this one while the theater is easy.

And for some sad news, some japanese youtuber interviewed an ex-tribe nine dev and it soudns like it was a true horror story of development. It's in moonspeak but someone on subreddit used chatgpt to get an idea.

One thing i'll point out is that this studio isn't new with gacha, they made the dragon ball gacha (that is alive to this day and very sucessful!) and i wasn't really aware of that, but remember the director joined late while the team "had no clear idea of what their goal is", it makes mroe sense it was dev hell.

Some choice quotes from a chat gpt translator comment:

The game allegedly cost 11 billion yen which is like, 76 million dollars, because the director kept changing vision and redoing everything.

I guess horse girl racing gacha experience doesn't translate to other games...

They wanted the genshin impact money, probably cause genshin released right as they started development (2020~) and

1748799828730.webp

Seems like the dev team tried their best and was not expecting EoS announcement this soon so they're all sad.

The new director seemingly not knowing shit about the old director is really funny. Did he just leave the sinking ship one day? The new one said the game didn't have baseball mode originally which sounds absurd considering how it's extremely important.

>There was also a claim that the CEO had sent out a message saying, ‘We’ll get rid of anyone without loyalty to the company.’ That’s a pretty wild statement.

Geez. Sounds like the main company already had lost faith in the game and and sent it to die. It's kinda impressive they still managed to deliver a flawed but solid game. Hope the dev team finds new and healthier opportunities outthere.

It's an open beta then.

Tried out the new Lucidscape. It's fun so far
I'm gonna hop in to try it out.

What a fucking mess. RIP game.

No, no, no, stalker kitten. It's a global launch - but not really. Still treating it as such by "celebrating" it in-game with lots of gibs for finally going global.

But still not a proper global launch, you fool!

Did some digging and the game has been a giant fucking mess, even in Korea so it's not just the global server. It's the devs. Something something the fish rots by the head.

From Namuwiki, as translated by ChatGPT.
According to the CEO, like Star Rail, the game was heavily influenced by Persona 5. Before Star Rail’s release, it was difficult to find investors, but after Star Rail’s success, they were inundated with investment offers.
...It shows.
The game's first and only closed beta test (CBT) was held from November 8 to 11, 2024. However, it received harsh criticism due to numerous bugs, absence of sound, and an inconvenient system. In response, the developer stated in the CBT closure announcement that it was based on the June 2024 version.
?????????????????
:stress:
So they did a closed beta, got shat on, shut the whole thing down, and said "No, no, you're beta testing an outdated version! Don't worry! This isn’t the final product!"

Assuming they aren't talking out of their ass here;
  • Why go "Muh old build" for a damn beta test instead of taking the feedback seriously? If this wasn't the actual build that needed testing, where is it then?

  • If the June build wasn't indicative of the final product, why fucking run it for your test?

  • Okay, so the CBT happened, but it's still buggy and crashes a lot? What was actually fixed? Four days do fuck all.
It seems to me that the CBT wasn't so much a test as it was a PR move for interest and investors (given that we know they only got funded on the back of Star Rail) rather than testing the damn game. It was super short and it seemed to end due to criticism.

The game is launching globally for real in a little over two weeks (June 18th). I am not hopeful. I was actually willing to cut them some slack here, small team, little resources, issues with finding investors apparently, but everything just seems like it's been one giant QA test you can sink money into and they won't own up to that.

No wonder I can't find any revenue data, even for the East Asian version.

For Blackstorm's sake, I hope they get their shit together come the actual launch. And I'm not gonna eat my words now. Certainly not if the game continues to be ass upon release and they pull the "No, that was just an older build" card again.

Also:
Former kt Rolster StarCraft pro gamer Park Jae-young served as the planning director, which became a topic of interest.
:story:
It was nicknamed "K-Star Rail" or "Koreail" even before its release. According to an interview with the CEO, the game was developed before the release of Honkai: Star Rail. However, although they claim to have started development first, it is widely accepted that they referenced Honkai: Star Rail for many aspects, as a large portion of the systems—such as the detailed difficulty levels for resource farming dungeons, the battle entry cutscenes, the design and layout of the UI—are so similar that they appear almost identical.
:story::story:
Sounds like massive cope to me.
"No it was OUR idea first!"

Corina Boettger being (potentially, don't count your chickens until they hatch) replaced as Paimon has united the Genshin fandom on all sides, it seems. Here, on Reddit, Twitter, TikTok, people who don't play with the English voiceover, people who used to play but dropped GI. It's kind of insane. Sure you have the occasional "REEEE HOW DARE YOU CELEBRATE A NONBINEY NEURODIVERGENT STRUGGLING VA GETTING REPLACED WITH AI, ALL HAIL SAG!" but those comments almost immediately get shit on (good). The only place I have seen people defending Corina is Bluesky, but that's to be expected.

According to the interview she had with that YouTuber, she's in debt and is on food stamps. Wait, I thought Corina needed this job to pay the bills and put food on the table?

Really makes ya think, doesn't it?

Corina absolutely overplayed her hand. She thought Hoyo would never can her and lo and behold, they did. I wouldn't be surprised if the CN community is what sealed the deal. Mihoyo always listens to them and they said they would spend more if she was gone so that probably made it easier to can her. Also should be a warning to the other VAs. If they are willing to kick out Paimon, the character with far and beyond the most lines, you're job isn't safe. Better start looking for a new one fuckers.

Is snowbreak worth playing? I remember a while back they got some notoriety/praise for standing up to the segment of gacha players and journalists who get violently ill seeing scantily clad anime women.

I quit snowbreak after playing tribe nine and realized what self respect is. Snowbreak started very different (completely serious and dark) but it wasn't making money. It was going to fail until they sold out completely to chinese gooners. It had multiple dramas and retcons, with the story currently being pure nonsense where everyone simply waits to see who the self insert harem protagonist will marry next.

That being said, it's a good, unique (third person shooter), generous and very casual friendly game in general. Dailies and boss time attack endgame are auto-runable, you can simply buy everyone 4* weapon and gear with event currency, you dont need to hyper optimize rolls to clear content, the quick arena rooms endgame is easy (i'm not sure it ever got harder??) and they give a free 5* every 4 months.

I also love how creative the units are from the start. Yao WS is basically a quickscope sniper where you snipe press skill to reload 1 bullet and do it between each shot. Tess is a unique support that has 0 cost ultimate that makes her leave the team and when you attack she attacks and generates ult charge, but after 1 minute she drains everything, making her great for bursting down bosses in 1 minute. Fritia hare has a super sprint instead of rolling that charges her skill that is either sit into enhanced triple snipe or a big grenade. One recent girl uses a LOUD revolver instead of ammo she goes my the skill bar and fires in a one - one two- one two THREE. Every unit is different.

But like i said, t9 made me realize i don't like nobody anymore and nothing matters, i was just playing out of obligation, but the devs don't even care about non chinese fans anyway.

Damn I hadn't heard of tribe nine before and I got excited when I saw it's from the makers of Danganronpa, but the next thing I saw was the EOS announcement which is a bummer.

I'm hopeful that Paimon gets replaced in English as well, but note that Corina is only "striking" and she hasn't been booted yet. I personally find it doubtful that they would actually fire her. It's a logistical nightmare, especially if they want to replace (5 years! of) past voice lines with new ones. I don't actually see it happening any time soon. Chances are we go all of Nod Krai without a Paimon at this rate. If they do recast her, I hope she's closer to her Chinese voice which is much more toned down and bearable.

I mean, they could just pull a Tighnari when they had to replace his EN VA due to him being caught trying to groom kids - just have Paimon get struck by lightning at the start of the patch/in the Archon Quest/in a cutscene the second we enter the new area, have her be “bedridden” for a patch or two, and when she wakes up blame her voice change going forward on the lightning strike.

Yeah they’d still have to go back and redub all her old shit, but it’d be funny to see happen.

Or hell, just don’t replace Paimon and have the MC actually speak more.

Today has been a good day. Rememento crashed on me twice within ten minutes of the game being open but fuck that!

Carlotta is now complete.
yay.webp
And I won my fifth 50/50! FUCK YOU, DEHYA!
Jesus fuck.webp
Let's go!

All joys aside, I think I may have used my luck for the next five hundred years. Oh well!

Guess I should consider it a blessing but apparently cock.li emails got blacklisted to even LOG IN on the hoyoverse site, so I can't even do age verification to save my account from deletion, and CS never responds to any ticket I ever made via that e-mail as well, so farewell to my genshin account!

(If anyone has any idea to get around the 'too many tries. try again later' error when trying to send verification codes when I only requested ONCE though that'd be cool. I've tried vpn, no vpn, and multiple devices)
probably just fucked. C'est la vie Neuvelette!
