Rock bottom might make a lot of addicts realize their mistakes. But not an addict who has the personality disorder(s) that Nick does. Not a narcissist who re-writes reality in his own head, lies like he breathes, and physically cannot take in new information (or, god help you, advice) from other people.
He will be reconditioned by force, or not at all.
Short of some medieval-style intervention treating him literally like a prisoner and forcing him to act differently, Nick going to jail (for more than just a piddly 30 days, I'm talking years) would honestly probably be the best thing for him.

I too believe Nick was genuinely put-together, mentally stable, and a good dad and husband before the Imholtes and the coke. There probably was a latent personality disorder that hadn't manifested yet, but addiction and hedonistic lifestyles change a lot about your personality and your judgment, and tend to push responsibilities aside. So I doubt the house was a hoarded, filthy mess before this saga when Kayla was more interested in domestic duties than ketamine.

I don't know why Aylawgz think he couldn't have changed entirely as a person after drugs were introduced.

Covert Narcissists constantly seek 'supply'. Nick got it by being a lawyer and 'upstanding' member of his church and community. Once the internet fame hit he moved on to that. He's blown all avenues which is why he's so unhappy now and constantly stuck in a narcissistic rage. The sad thing is this condition only gets worse the older you get. There is no cure.
 
I just realized that in one of his 2 am streams, one of his kids comes into his room. Along with the fact that the kids are home-schooled, it reminds me of this one EWU Bodycam video. Thankfully Nick doesn't chain his kids to their beds, as far as I know.
