First of all that petition actually implicated the HRO statute's classic concern for physical safety given the superchatter's murder fantasy that Aaron and April were talking about, and secondly that petition was settled by Aaron's voluntary stipulation, not contested to the bitter end. Neither would be the case with a petition against Nick.

To be honest I think that's a harsh read.

Firstly, we see one sided messages. I'm betting Nick's messages were mirroring his and I am guessing this is some weird thing where they big up each others wives to try and minimise the debauchery of the situation.

Secondly, even if you take it literally, Aaron is essentially saying that with April he could even get through losing access/losing his kids, but he isn't sure vice versa he could. I think people reading it as "April's life is more important than my childrens" are being disingenuous.
