I wouldn't assume as much. There are a lot of hospitals in NY, and there are a lot of different staff members within each one. Liability inhibits the degree to which you can shit talk someone on their medical records. Most you can usually do is flatly record patient had concerns of X, was worked up with A, B, and C, everything is within normal limits, discharge to home with instructions to return if symptoms worsen.
It's usually good that things are this way. You wouldn't want someone in a bad mood to make it hard for you to get medical care in the future because you had a freakout that turned out to be a false alarm. But if you wondered how munchies "get away with it"- that's part of how.

It should be like a trigger system maybe.
A certian amount of "drug seeking behaviour" or "facetious" maybe "hypochondriac" showing up in a file would trigger some little tag on the whole thing.
But then I think I'm giving the systems in place more faith than that which they are capable of, from an external perspective.
In the NHS I still see them lugging around old cardboard folders that look like they are from the 80s with everyone's records.
The fact that Vicky truly did stay off twitter the whole time means she was at least commiting heavily to the bit while she was in there.
A lot of people simply don't expect that other people would have the nessecary gall and audacity to fake things to a certain extent.
Again though, that's in layman land. I don't know how cynical medical professionals become to fakery or how quickly and universally that sets in..

Just on how she presents bald trooner, with a power chair, I’m sure it doesn’t take long for many nurses, and doctors to know what’s up. That’s the thing though, all her problems are mental and we don’t put people in asylums any more. You generally have to be an immediate threat to yourself, or others to be hospitalized, so it’s easier to just order the tests, or prescribe medications if they’re not controlled ones and wash your hands of her.

She's told us so many times she would never, that of course we should never ever suspect she'd actually use GPT to figure out cool "zebra" diseases she might have or to give her more enticing symptoms to talk about to her followers.

Nah, she's too incurious and dumb. Not that you have to be smart to use a chatbot, but you do have to have some level of intellectual curiosity to attempt to break away from what all your friends are thinking. All Vicky's online friends hate generative AI, and it's never occurred to her that it might be useful regardless and that she could just use it without telling people. I just don't see her having the brainpower to make that leap.
It's tricky though, because some "hypochondriac" behavior really is shit that doctors don't understand. A woman might visit four doctors with a symptom and they all tell her it's nothing, before the fifth one finally figures out that she needs mouse bites to live. If the third or fourth doctor had tagged her as a hypochondriac she'd never have received her lifesaving mouse bite treatment.
Recognizing munchies in practice probably needs to remain more of an art than a science. Like rocking up in a power chair while having suspiciously robust-looking leg muscles and wearing a (probably unwashed) bedazzled HEPA mask, claiming to be traumatized into muteness while you happily tap away on Twitter.

When Vicki gets her degree (rainbows here) she wants everyone to know she never, ever did anything to cheat the system and learn less than she could have. She doesn't get to have those "figuring it out on the fly" conversations outside of class with friends because there's none of that for her. So she has to do all her tentative rambling in front of everyone, for her captive audience.

I've known a couple of older women who had fibroids, a common type of uterine tumor. Even though there are objective tests for fibroids, all of them had to change doctors at least once before anyone actually did the test. Some of them described rather severe symptoms that the gynos told them were normal.
If doctors could easily put "it's all in her head" on the record ... God help us. People with rare conditions wouldn't be the only ones flagged.
Stories like that are pretty common - and I think they're one reason munchies thrive. If everyone knows someone with a health problem that was ignored or misdiagnosed, it's easy to believe that some tragic girl in a wheelchair, smiling through the tears, is a medical mystery, not someone whose tests come back negative because she's fine. (Katie Stanina, one or the dumber munchies on the munchie thread, has so little self-awareness that she's posted about how the tests for the conditions she claims to have "mysteriously come back negative.")

I'm actually surprised though that she's so smug about LLMs when you could easily make some bullshit "accessibility" argument that they help people who language processing issues organise their thoughts in a way that "neurotypicals" understand.
If anyone's had the misfortune of reading AI slop sent in by students, job applicants, or interns, it becomes very easy to detect, and there's usually a bunch of falsehoods in it. Unless the assignment is something as basic as summarizing reading materials, it's going to be very difficult to have CoPilot do your homework for you without significant editing and double checking on your part.
It is a big help however if you're looking for editing suggestions for tone or readability, and it's useful for assembling bits of reports that don't inject a lot of new information e.g. "create a 3 paragraph executive summary for an audience of company directors. Make sure to highlight the risks and issues identified and include the table for TCO in the costings section."
No reasonable person would consider usages like that to be some form of cheating any more than using autocorrect is cheating, and many universities are actually offering LLM bots to help students with tasks exactly like that.

16 years? Isn't medical school like 12 from bachelors to MD? I have a doctor in the family but he also went for a master's in engineering so I don't even remember how long he was in. Bit I know damn well getting an mdphd takes less than 16 years. TF is this person in school for for 16 years? Sorry for ramble. Drank a bit too much.
