As @I HATE THE ANTICHRIST! explained, the dislike number isn't the actual number of dislikes, it's calculated based on the ratio of dislikes to likes that extension users gave.

If a bunch of RYD likes come in, it can lower the number of dislikes displayed.

A little math, if a video has
a = # of likes
b = # of likes from extension users
c = # of dislikes from extension users
Then you get n additional likes from extension users, the dislikes will go down with the equation (this all assumes that non non-RYD ratings are coming in)

In (somewhat) plain English, the left side of the inequality is ratio the (original) of RYD dislikes over RYD likes times the ratio of the new RYD likes over the new RYD dislikes. The right side of the inequality is the ratio of (current) total likes over the non-RYD likes.

You don't need to understand the equation though to see that you can remove dislikes by brigading enough new RYD likes. Earlier in the thread I theorized that Ian had a bunch of brigaders taking advantage of the quirks of the extension to make the video seem better received than it actually was (which is why a) he asked his viewers to like the video to counter the narrative b) won't show the actual dislikes which are even worse than what the extension shows).
