Edit: to everyone bringing up the fundraiser, none of them are getting any of that money. It actually does go to the charity. Don’t let Ian use people saying they’re stealing from charity this year with the fundraisers as a way out/to further victimize themselves.

I feel like there's not enough scrutiny given to the doc's part in all this. There's something that doesn't strike me as quite right with him. The way he was quick to pounce on Ethan after realizing what Ian wanted from him to then quickly removing the video when the wider backlash was more negative than he thought. The way the doc teaches Ian to intellectualize every little issue as "oh you're depressed." "oh you're learning empathy!" comes off as really gross to me. He never has Ian confront these thoughts or feelings, just has Ian pat himself on the back for recognizing he has problems lol.

There's a reason Ian's a neurotic mess whose been medicated out of his mind. I honestly feel bad for him in some regard but he's obviously too far gone to ever get back.

The prevailing theories for the longest time is that 1) Yes, Ian is fucking autistic and was no joke a guy who walked around screaming nigger and faggot because he thought it was funny until Youtube started demonetizing stuff like that or 2) Ian is a social chameleon who fucking sucks at it. Whatever group he's in, he just copies their mannerisms, their humor, and even the way they phrase stuff and it's always so obvious when he does it. He copied Max, Joji, Chad, and the rest of them. Now he's copying every heckin empathetic social justice warrior in LA.

Of course, both can be true. Personally? I'm leaning towards heavy undiagnosed autism with a hint of some other mental illness like his wife. Maybe BPD?
