The entire civilized world decided children were optional in the pursuit of GDP. Everyone has a 1-child policy now, not just China. It's just everyone else uses incentives rather than murder to enforce it.

This is a great play on their part. If people and the media try raise a stink about this it just opens up the conversation to be about the thousands of dollars in stimulus and loans that illegals were getting for being flown into the country by the federal government

New prefab concrete prisons are stupidly simple to construct by comparison. And there's no shortage of useless desert less than 60km to the east near Altamont which is equally inhospitable if putting a prison in an inhospitable place is the goal.

The problem with prisons isnt the building construction. Endless low bid contractors who view shoddy work as repair work in the future. Its that nobody wants a prison near their home and endless lawfare starts unless you build it in the middle of nowhere which has its own problems.

Its why you will see them build a brand new prison on the corpse of an old one all the time because alot of the legal hurdles have been precleared.

The amount of NIMBYism about prisons is astounding. The same people who bitch about prison overpopulation never want a prison near them and it's often either a full-on communists who wants to empty the prisons so they can use the chaos to create their perfect system of communism that's never been tried, or they want some stupid Norwegian system where mass murderers get gourmet food and video games.

It sounds like people just really want to spend a fuck ton of money on Alcatraz because it sounds cool. It's going to be stupid expensive and take for fucking ever.

I would live right next door to a prison, if they offered a dead or alive bounty on escapees.

Not a fucking chance in California, though, where self defense cases are a Sisyphean uphill
