I also like frogs. I even feel some degree of kinship to them.

Birds, especially Paleognathes like ostriches, emus, and cassowaries. Also kiwis but, out of the group, they're not really my favorite. I mostly love how the whole-ass clade just look like dinosaurs.

I love mysterious birds. My favorites are the nightjars.

Also love Oilbirds and Night Parrots. The rediscovery of the Night Parrot is full of drama. It's very interesting.


Bonus favorite invertebrate: snakeflies. Honorable mention to Neuroptera (mantidflies, lacewings, and antlions).

I love birds like that with the massive beaks, they look like some kind of bird-themed puppet. My first thought on seeing these nightjars was "Oh, like the potoo!"

But really though, I'd probably go with the Pacific Octopus or Snowy Owl. Octopi are very intelligent creatures and their abilities of wriggling into tight spaces i think are really cool. They're escape artists. Snowy Owls are beautiful and live in remote cold places, which is where I'd like to live one day. Honorable mention for shrimp, because they taste really good.

Swans. They are adorable, beautiful creatures. I like to go to a nearby park with a pond to hang with them, and the ducks, who I also really like. I've always really liked these birds.

The mongoose. Or the cassowary bird. Anything that gives zero fucks and fucks up snakes like it's their job is an impressive creature

Sharks, the Hammerhead is my favourite classic shark. But ultimately I like the Greenland shark. How something can live for so long just doing.. nothing. And we know almost nothing about them.

Otherwise I am also a rodent enjoyer, which includes guinea-pigs and hamsters, because they are rodents. I love how guineas will spazz around when they're happy. I like watching their lips when they chew stuff. They're also one of the only pets where individuals get along 100% on personality. Castration doesn't mean that 2 individuals will cohabit, even if they're opposite sex. If they hate each other, they will always hate each other. They're so full of personality I've never known another animal like it.

I had a whip-poor-will nest in my yard growing up. I love hearing their chirps at 2/3 am; there's something ethereal about a bird song in the middle of the night
