I don't see any items relating to brothels or prostitution. They do have a general public comment section at the end, but I don't know that Russ is aiming to speak for 3 minutes on a random topic.

I'm going on the assumption that Greer is lying about having a "business meeting" of any kind, because taking him at his word is a fool's errand. What I had more in mind was that he got into some sort of altercation at one of the brothels, for example, or got pulled over for having a suspended tag or what have you, and he has to show up in court that specific day for some sort of civil or low-level criminal matter. If someone had access to the Nye County court records/calendar, one might see if Greer has any upcoming court dates. Or citations via the sheriff, etc.

There are 2 county/state courts in Nye. The local justice court for low level offenses. Greer's name does not appear on anything for next week. And the Fifth Judicial District Court, which does not publish their calendar so there's no easy way to know if he has something scheduled or of interest to him there.

Will Rusty cry to the District Court Judge that the Magistrate is being mean and not tard guarding like he's supposed to? Or maybe straight to the 10th Circuit? He could demand a writ of mandamus, saying that the Judge is officially off the 10th circuit's Christmas card list and he HAS to give Russ everything he wants, cause his boss (the 10th circuit) says to. That worked before, in a different way, why not this time too?

It's not actually appealable. A Court has the absolute power to govern its own calendar. And I don't think Greer wants the Magistrate or anybody else digging too deeply into his oh so important business meeting. Because the filing is bordering on Contempt if the Judge discovers proof that his important business meeting is in fact pure bullshit. (Rather than the Judge just assuming it is)

Yeah, I really think it's either 1) he got a ticket of the more serious kind and has to appear in some court that day, or 2) he's flat-out lying and nothing at all is happening and he's just petrified of what the judge is going to do to him and his case.

No that doesn't qualify as a business meeting. It doesn't even count as a pitch, it's just randomly shouting at semi-random people to try and get what you want.

Here's a list of every county in Nevada, showing which ones allow prostitution. I checked for publicly posted official meetings for all counties that fully or partially allow prostitution. Then I checked which ones have announced events on May 6th:

Esmeralda County - Board of County Commissioner Meeting, 10:00 AM (agenda)
Lyon County - Storytime by Community Chest, 10:30 AM
Nye County - Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting, 10:00 AM (agenda, same as above)
Storey County - Board of County Commissioners regular meeting, 10:00 AM (agenda)

The court hearing is set for 1:00 PM (*). Arguably the last 4 line up with "very oddly taking place at the same time as the court hearing", assuming they run 2+ hours, including time for Greer to drive back to civilization. But that ascribes a lot of forward planning and awareness of time constraints for someone like Russell Greer.

For the content, assuming Russ only cares about whores and whore accessories:

• Esmeralda doesn't have agenda posted. Edit: finally found the agenda, nothing about brothels on it
• Nye and Storey don't have anything whore-related on the posted agenda
• Lyon is just a kid's story time

(*) Utah time, Nevada is split between two time zones, so that's either 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM depending on the county.

TL;DR I think it's safe to claim that whatever Russ "was informed that he had to be at", it's not a county meeting relating to buying a brothel. It might be a county appointment, but it would be weird for one of those offices to be open and operating during a public meeting. So it's most likely a private entity, and if so the court really doesn't have cause to pre-empt itself for a private, allegedly un-reschedulable meeting.

I'd imagine he would have to provide evidence (or at least a claim) of an actual emergency. The excuse he gave would might get you an extension from a generous college professor or for missing lunch with mom but few other places will.

I don't think even mom would let you pause it for a month and she would definitely want more detail than he gave. And changing his excuse at this point is a bad look. That being said honesty and/or shame don't ever seem to enter the equation when it comes to Russel's decision making.
