Money, be it for charity or for their own profit, is a secondary consideration for the event. The aim of CC3 was as a redemption and revitalization of the image around Anisa and Ian following CC2. Anisa and Ian needed it to be the same size or bigger to satisfy their ego.

They brought in a lot of revenue in CC2, but pissed it away. I believe they thought they could bring in a similar amount of revenue while having more competent event organization and management by bringing in a company to promote the event and run it for them. I see the idea, but it was risky and their behavior has severely jeopardized everything riding on this event.

Personally I think that their actual goal was to increase the perceived value of the CC brand, so they could sell it off for more. IIRC they refused to sell it after CC1, because they wanted more money than was offered, but CC2 then tanked its reputation, and the amount of money they could realistically get for the brand became significantly less.
Now, I will admit that I'm going by my own logic, because the Jomhas' trains of thought are completely alien to me, but this is the only explanation that makes sense to me.
Its execution was atrocious, however, so who even knows at this point.
The actual reason could even be that Ian did something to annoy Anisa, and the only way to calm her down is to let her organize another event.
