This is a conspiracy theory. Apple doesn't push any secret battery drain virus onto your phone. They push out new features, users with old phones activate them all, and then surprise, making your phone do more stuff drains the battery. They then spread tales about how Apple just mysteriously made their phone start draining battery faster for nothing, and oh hey, have you seen my cool new animated wallpaper?

Ironically, they also have a feature to extend battery life by throttling the CPU when the battery is low, and this made people complain that Apple was trying to force them to buy new phones with a secret virus that made their phones slower by throttling the CPU for no reason.

People with old computers just like to bitch.

My favorite was the SunChip bag redesign they did in the mid 2000s, it crinkled so god damn LOUD that it actively made people stop wanting to buy the chips entirely and they changed the bags again.

One of China’s flexes has been to take organizations downstream from the UN and bribe the fuck out of them. Not realizing only the most retarded US citizens think any of those things like the WHO matter, China has just had itself some fun co-opting what they saw as our prestige.

The dumb part is when other countries just go along with giving them a lower bar for standards.

But the secret is, you can do the same thing China does and ignore those deals completely, because they don’t mean anything. They’re just public promises, and “carbon credits” was just a new imaginary financial asset

To be fair, China is essentially both. Rural and lower tier cities are basically third world, while the major tier 1 cities, particularly their affluent areas are first world, and have some of the most developed infrastructure in the world. The people on the other hand…

They didn't admit it. They settled, the settlement allows them to continue to maintain it's a power management feature & deny wrongdoing, and iOS still has the feature. They added a toggle switch so you can turn it off in iOS 11.3. Deactivating CPU speed management does in fact drain your battery significantly faster.

Companies frequently settle lawsuits when the PR damage and legal fees outweigh what they'd gain by fighting through to the end. $300m is to a $300b company what $100 is to somebody who makes $100,000 a year.

All the big tech companies were funded by glowies in the early days of Silicon Valley, engage in various forms of market manipulation, and buy off politicians. They haven't "earned" anything, they've cheated. Total Big Tech Death.
