It's more like he’s a sellout who just happened to fool many. Ian was the same, for that matter. During the edgy era of YouTube, the trend for money and views was to be edgy and anti-SJW. Ethan was buddies with Jordan Peterson for a reason.

I see him as somebody who has a very good "core" set of values, but is not good at managing them, and that combined with living in LA has turned him into a complete mess. I have seen this happen to people I know.

Ethan has:
-Committed to his wife
-Kept and raised a child
-Shown genuine remorse for his actions
-Believes in something greater than himself with israel, and threw away TREMENDOUS amounts of potential money defending it. Say "of course the jew would simp for israel" all you want, it is something other than himself and he chose it over money.

I think he is also very loyal to his friends, and he reminds me of myself in high school where he thinks the best way of showing that love is by attacking people he perceives as attacking his friends. This is a really weird thing you can trap yourself in, it comes from not wanting to have any bad blood with your friends and feeling like "wait... my friends might take offense at what that guy said! I have to say I want to kill that guy or my friend will feel betrayed!" This is cow worthy on it's own don't get me wrong, but it comes from a good place. I think he's a guy who really wants a family or something to belong to, and he's just too autistic and emotional to realize all these people are manipulating him.

I genuinely believe that if Ethan sold his LA mansion, and moved to some normal town on the east coast or maybe taxes or something, got involved with basic local community shit, and completely quit the internet, he would be a very good person in a matter of years. He would still probably run his mouth every now and then and have to apologize, but people would like him and he would be there when it really counts. The guy who would help you move, or bring you food when you're sick.

I do not think that about Ian, Anisa, Hasan, Vaush, or really the majority of lolcows. Rotten to the very fucking core. I'm late but I will say is that what makes this video so bad to me is how little and how much you are supposed to know about everything in order for it to come off as effective. Like in the past content cops, I didn't know anything about Ricegum or Tana when Ian did a Content Cop on them, but I learned who they were and got the basic idea. Also they had funny skits and payoffs that weren't just naked seething. In this video I am expected to know a lot of context and events that happened that aren't explained, and also not enough context to know when Ian is taking things out of context. Ian is also a spokesperson for why men should never go to therapy, because there were so many time I could feel that a he was repeating verbatim what a therapist told him. That "I wanted to put a pause on our friendship" section was something straight out of a someones mouth who majored in psyche and was weird.
