This whole situation is stupid and dangerous at the same time, you see, Taiwan, officially called the Republic of China, still claims the whole of mainland China as part of their territory, and its been that way since the end of the Chinese Civil War to today, China maintains that the island is simply in rebellion as part of the One-China policy, and they will unify...eventually at some point in the future, if Taiwan ever declares independence, that means that the policy is broken and that only means active war according to official doctrine.
They would be divided a different way. China has a habit of shattering then reassembling it's self though civil war. Personally the mainland should be broken up and stay broken up.
