True. Marine Corps were always a bit slow when it came to adopting new weapons. I just put the "A1" in there because I'm a sperg and I feel like just "M1903" would feel kinda empty.A1 denotes the rifle being fitted with a pistol grip stock (I believe the change was made in the late 20s), however I am mostly being an pedant. Funnily enough while the M1917 was the mainstay of the US Army, the USMC were almost entirely issued M1903s. Really adds to the joke "The marines at Guadalcanal carried the same rifles their dads carried in Belleau Wood."
