This particular "nuclear battery" generates about 100 microwatts of power, which means you'd only need roughly 50k of the devices to charge a single cell phone (5 watts is 5,000,000 microwatts), so it's only about 4 times less power than Pacemaker nuclear batteries from 1972.

Add the lead shielding they require, and you can probably just about fit this "battery" inside a small suitcase. Which now that I think about it, sounds an awful lot like how they powered the needle gun in "Snow Crash"...

China isn't bragging about developing a nuclear-powered rotary rail gun that fires needles of depleted uranium, are they?

America’s nuclear investment is practically third-world level. The real reason is that the key elements required for a successful nuclear program are precisely what America struggles with most: follow-through, consistent investment, and a clear, long-term plan.

In the U.S., too many people hold too much localized power, which has led to a graveyard of half-finished nuclear projects. Guys, it’s not the 1800s anymore—centralization is the way of the future. Just accept it and stop trying to cling to outdated governance models.

To the point, how does a tariff on China hurt American nuclear power? They weren't going to sell us energy and don't have any technology that we don't already have. The super battery you're describing as a super secret Chinese technology is an RTG, another poster before me mentioned it. America has had and used RTG's since the 1950's and if it wasn't for nuclear fear mongering in America that shit would have powered everything and would have been in every car and house by the 90's. America has not fallen behind in nuclear technology, it's been advanced but not deployed due to suppression coming from green lobbies. But power demands from AI, shitcoin and electric cars has superceded the green lobbies and now they are looking at building dozens of plants in the US, Georgia, Wyoming and even in blue liberal states like Illinois. I give it 10 years and you'll start seeing RTG's offered to power homes and cars in the US. They'll be marketed like they market electric water heaters. Nuclear power is coming back and we don't need mystified Chinese nonsense to do it.
