We’re pressing them because this is bigger than the trade deficit. Trump wants to collapse China and end the second Cold War

If we make a deal with Vietnam, China is fucked. They’ve been using the shit out of Vietnam to reroute
Vietnam has quietly been trying to work its way into America's good graces for years now. At least on things like security, because if anyone in the region hates the Chinese, it's Vietnam. They are technically communist, but Vietnamese communism was always nationalist first. If we can make things good for them and collapse China at the same time you'll probably be able to see the jungle Asian boner from space.

A lot of people are completely ignorant to the huge amount of white collar labor that factories can consume between regulation, operations and logistics. Documenting what you are using and how your disposing of shit, and keeping track of literal tons of raw materials and tooling collectively worth millions of dollars zipping around is a lot of work, even with computerization. After all, a good inventory system knows where the plastic pellets are, but it takes a salesman to negotiate a good contract price to buy them at. Especially if/when your starting to negotiate materials on invoice durations long enough to let them make and sell the product before they even pay for the feedstock. Same for all the human labor processing all that data to give the higher ups spreadsheets they can pretend to understand.
I work in manufacturing and I do procurement and inventory stuff. We're a small company, but we have engineers, sales and marketing guys, etc. People are missing that it's not just line guys. And then you've got all the supporting business too, even down to the guy who brings the lunch truck around. But I guess America's a service economy so you're only allowed to be a finance or tech bro or work stocking shelves at walmart forever. Because. There's invisible rules or something that declare it such. You can't have an economy that does more than one thing for reasons. You can't have service, tech, and manufacturing. At least America can't. For reasons.

The utter seething that people have over the concept of the middle class working in small factories, building things, developing technology, whether its toasters or drones is so great.
They literally built their entire stock portfolio and economic plan on exploiting foreign labor, and giving things to our literal rival states. They exploit tax loopholes, they took money from the taxpayer under false pretenses and paid themselves.
This is pure kino.
The idea that we "can't make things because who is going to make them??"
What are you retarded? The only reason this isn't happening is you blow a giant hole in our economy and mexicans, indians, and chinese people come pouring in with their tribalism.
Why the fuck would I care about your hedge fund, or your 401k ,or your stocks? That's a you problem.
I don’t care that my 401k took a hit because I’m not a Timmy. And more importantly I hate the status quo so much I’d sacrifice my entire 401k to end it:
I've said it before, I'll say it again. That's one of the things you never touch. The money the guns and the children.

If they got rid of the checks, that's when guillotines get brought out.
Yup. If on the other hand they eliminate income taxes they could install themselves for life and most wouldn’t care.

When it happens, it won't happen all at once. Canada is going to break apart first, at which point the provinces will become part of America separately, either by joining or annexation. This will take several years to fully play out, probably taking longer than Trump's 2nd or even 3rd term.

The barely-populated northernmost provinces will probably be claimed by America right away. This will have such little impact on the lives of the few people living there that they may not even notice. Ontario and Quebec will probably to hold out the longest before they can no longer sustain themselves. When they finally become part of America, it will be at least 100 years before their resentment and bitterness subsides, and it will never fully go away.

Newfoundland will be a different story. Newfoundland is actually the only surviving remnant of Atlantis, which had once been home to a thriving civilization of space travelers. Instead of joining America, they will raise their ancient homeland from the sea and reclaim their cosmic birthright.
this is verbatim what Whatifalthist says about this issue btw, canadian right wing is not nationalistic because they dont associate with the canadian national identity

Lol, that optimism. "We're going to make a trillion dollars off tariffs, and companies are going to bring manufacturing to the US." I'd settle for an either/or, seems much more realistic, especially if we're also using them as a stick in negotiations.
If the majority of American products return to being manufactured in the U.S. and we lower the current tariff plan to ones that still keep the tariffs fair compared to the robbery we were getting before, we will absolutely make a trillion off tariffs alone.
You have to realize, we were getting super ultra fucked while still giving these idiots in Europe and Asia subsidies. If we control our own manufacturing again, that will force more countries to import from us, and the tariffs will give us extra money on the stuff that we will always import. This is a win win for us and an evening of the playing field for them

What would it do to the line if we actually fought a war war against China instead of just cutting their tiny dicks off with money
97% of the pharmaceuticals the US uses are made in China, so we'd have to fight a war without antibiotics basically. So, bad things. There's a lot of reasons why we need to bring critical industries back beyond green line going up.

It's almost like he knew what he was doing. I'd add another quarter to the "Trump was right again" jar, but unfortunately it's overflowing.
The ridiculous thing is everyone says and everyone knows that American wealth built China and has been continuing to build it, but they couldn’t figure out that there was a giant bluff to call and all of China’s neighbors hate them and will play ball with us

Now where’s Europe at? Hey Macron, you faggot, want to send another ship to Canada?

I would say in retrospect that was a bad idea but no every thought that was stupid.

How worried/happy should we be about the stock market come Monday? will it just sort itself out again as rich people get bailed out for the 4th time since 2001?
The stock market doesn't really mean anything to a person who doesn't own stocks. Maybe at one point it did, but nowadays it's all fake, gay, and doesn't represent the financial state of the everyman.
