What's particularly shitty is that the elephant was likely killed in retaliation; from the looks of it, it was definitely a moment of payback for the pachyderm judging from the rather excessive kill method, but I imagine that the local government probably killed the elephant in-turn as a result.

Just to add a bit of context to this as someone who has lived in Japan, she's very deliberately talking like she's a young girl in a cutesy kind of way. There are different levels of affectation in Japanese and this is like just a bit of a cutesy way of talking so not too extreme. I could NEVER imagine a Japanese girl, let alone an 18-year-old one getting facial piercings. That would've turned heads all over. The most rebellious Japanese you'd see would be ganguro and even then, it was sort of a signal of being in a clique. No clique in Japan I can think of would have facial piercings.

To my knowledge, ganguro fashion (and especially yamamba gyaru like you posted) hasn't really been in style for around 20 years now. Menhera ("mental healther") and Jirai-onna ("landmine girl") are the more modern trends for Japanese girls, both of which tend to involve drug abuse and the latter of which often includes piercings. The closest western comparison I could make for either might be certain types of goth or emo, though they're more focused on cutesiness alongside the edginess.

The girl in the video seems like she's in that sort of "I hate myself but I'm cute" type of subculture that's more popular these days, especially with mentally ill young women. You can get a pretty good idea of what these types of girls are like just by searching #メンヘラ or #地雷女 on Xitter, or the jirai onna tag on tumblr to see how it's been adopted by westerners. You get a lot of girls posting memes about wanting to kill themselves, cutesy highly filtered selfies, pictures of self harm, and nudes or risqué photos. It's a subculture of mentally ill girls in their teens and 20s who do drugs, have a lot of casual sex, and hurt or kill themselves like the girl in the video.

Ganguro is a substyle of gyaru. Gyaru is a pretty broad term that covers a handful of styles.
