It's a reframing move, they've had to admit everybody does the bad tariff thing to us, and now they're on to claiming the calculations don't make sense. Now that everybody is clear "free trade" means "drain the US" it will be used as political pressure to get protectionist Legislation passed short of the EO.

This is an attack on both offshoring, and a strike to the Democrats, in their core rustbelt base. If Trump gets trade reform, expect major union campaign, and center-left Democrat support for Republicans in the mid-terms. They've been bitching about trade since the Japs in the '80's.
It’s also insane pressure on China, because we’re in a position to squeeze 100% of their trade surplus. The lady in the stream I linked a few posts up is going through how while we directly import like $400 billion from China a year, that figure doesn’t count pass throughs and general pressure. For instance, China has a $200 billion surplus with Europe, and Europe has a $200 billion surplus with us. The other Asian countries have a $200 billion deficit with China, and an offsetting surplus with us.

By charging tariffs to EVERYONE, we’re reducing their ability to export to us and import from China. Clogging up the works. We’re shutting down China’s exports.

We’re winning world war 3 with no shots fired

If this leads to the CCP losing the mandate of Heaven and cause China to go into years of in fighting. If the CCP goes then North Korea isn't really needed any more.

That’s not the point I’m making. Union guys don’t care how the pension is funded. It’s guaranteed. Whether the companies are worried about supporting the pension is really not on their minds at all. Some plans have a market-based component, but it’s thought of as more of a supplement.
This may be a clock post but you need to research the pension benefit guarantee corporation. 100% of a pension is absolutely not guaranteed.

This 15-Year-Old Just Scorched Team Trump in a Frankly Amazing Interview
do I spy a lil pooner dude?
Is there anything that this government is doing that particularly gets under your skin?

I think firing all of the government workers because the government can’t do its job. And I bet some of those government workers aren’t coming back, so it’d be it’d be really hard to rebuild the government.
That's the point

Have we even heard a peep from North Korea this trump term? They’ve completely faded into the background.

Also they got pretty paranoid about Covid and closed their border with China, like actually built out fencing and actively guard it. North Koreans are not having a good time escaping lately.

I think that relationship has been better. Also North Korea is off par from China in that they straight up sent troops to Russia to fight in Ukraine, while all China has done has been to turn a blind eye to people going for mercenary contracts.

When is the last time the Norks even launched a missile over Japan? They’ve been leaving all the threatening to China, who have been sailing around threatening everyone with unannounced live fire naval drills.

The quietness lends towards me feeling like the main confrontation is happening now

Didn't that fat leader kid end up being replaced by his sister a couple years ago? I think the started getting quiet around then.

Eh this is really only Germans and that’s because of WWII. If you go to Europe you’ll see flags everywhere. They just hate American patriotism because the media feeds them bullshit about us being uncultured rednecks who shoot people.
Those European fags sucked off Israel as hard as Boden did.

I'll also be buying a cow share to cover my meat needs for the next six months. Great value and great quality.
I second this, 100%. I have no idea why more people don't do this. Even when I was broke af, I had no trouble getting in for a quarter share. Best way to get steak and a ton of fresh ground chuck.

My Ford just turned ten. Zero major repairs in that time. They don't make them like they used to, and that's a good thing.
I had two Rangers each last over 15 years, and aside from changing the batteries every 6 years, I had no issues with either. Resale value was still pretty good, too, helped by Ford discontinuing the line for awhile there. And F150s are everywhere around here (my neighbor has a hybrid F150 he just used to power his house during the tornados and floods last week, was nice enough to power my water pump for a while so I could get a shower). Ford has been consistently quality for at least 20+ years.

I miss when the democrats were running John Kerry, and crying about "Benedict Arnold CEOs" off-shoring jobs. Guess they just forgot about that, just like they forgot all their anti-war protesting and 20 solid years of voter fraud accusations.

Obama's all so weak and old and shaky already and starting with the ol 'let me be clear'. This is pretty sad.

He's only 62 but looks a hard 75. What happened to this man?
Obama needs to get back in the sarcophagus before his Kenyan host wakes up again.

A small shop can make a car. When a small shop makes a car, amortizing the R&D cost means that car has a sticker price of $250,000. It actually does not cost Ferrari 10x more to actually manufacture a car than it costs Chevrolet, but it costs them every bit as much, if not more, to design the car and its fabrication process. Economies of scale allow you to dilute fixed costs across more units.
That's why I hate the EPA, NHTSA, and DOT. We have designs with decades of real world vetting in our portfolio right now that we can't make anymore because faggot ass regulators forced them into obsolescence. Meanwhile countries like Mexico* can make new cars for less than $10,000 burgerbux because they aren't forced to retool their factories for the next generation of RGB carslop every 5 years.

If I could have one wish from the Trump genie, it would be a whitelist of drivetrains/platforms that are exempt from regulations, similar to the 25-year rule for grey market imports--perhaps with a caveat that they must be made in America to qualify.

*After the US market moved on, Mexico continued to operate the factories making the VW Beetle until 1997 and the Nissan B13 until 2017.

I know someone IRL who went to one of the protests today.

Had to do a double take with this picture because I thought it was him. It's not, but hoo boy that was a close one. :story:

Based on the pictures I've seen, there's no cohesive message with this protest whatsoever. It's just another fucking temper tantrum over the fact that the person they didn't vote for won. That's literally all this is.

I mean, it can't be over the tariffs, right? Because you'd be pretty fucking stupid to be screeching about that after cheering for the economy to shut down during Covid a mere 5 years ago. lol.

Maybe nintendo shouldn't have waited so long on the switch 2 if they didn't want tarrifs :^)

Could they have done a thing where they sold millions of them to NoA pre-tarrif, and then had NoA sell them post-tarrif without having to pay tarrifs?
