A few years ago my best friend and I were on a Pokemon kick, and we went back and played some of the older games. I was playing LeafGreen and I let him borrow Blue to play. We played a lot at work since we worked together and had a lot of free time while working at night.

One day he mentions how it's weird playing the original games since all the Pokemon only have one type. I think he's crazy and tell him dual-type Pokemon have always existed. I did not remember Red and Blue Pokemon only being single-type. Well, he's playing Blue right there, so he shows me. And he's right. He shows me his Charizard; it's only Fire, no Flying. He shows me his Zapdos; it's Electric, no Flying. And so on. He proved it to me further by using Thunderbolt on the Charizard you fight in the Elite Four. It was not super-effective. Charizard was not a flying type.

I was shocked that I had never realized this. I did some googling and found that the original games only had single types, but dual-types were introduced in Gen 2 (Gold/Silver) and many of the Gen 1 type Pokemon were updated in that game and subsequent games to have two types. He was right.

Yesterday I saw a Reddit comment asking if dual-types existed originally, as he didn't think they did. I replied, telling him that they didn't in the original games, but Gen 1 was updated in later games to have dual-types. I was downvoted, but one guy replied saying he remembered it as I did.

Since I was downvoted, I figured people just don't remember it correctly, so I tried googling it, but found nothing on the topic. I asked on r/pokemon and was basically called an idiot by everyone and told dual-types have always existed. I decided to look up a Pokedex guide on Gamefaqs for Blue, and it indeed listed them as dual-types.

However, I, as well as two other redditors, seem to remember dual-types originally not existing. Maybe there are others who remember this as well.

fuck you and your neggies, it is you who is wrong and not me :optimistic:

People might have been more sympathetic if you hadn't broken out the jigsaw pieces on people who were actually right. I see you changed it to ❤️ after the fact. Stop trying to gaslight people, faggot.
i'll have you know that autistic is actually a neutral rating

faggot

i felt bad and i wanted to rectify my mistake :feels:

Imagine the guy from Reddit had a cursed version of pkmn blue with Pokémon removed it's typing by force. Like a Charizard who got his wings cut off or a paraplegic lapras with broken fins. Then the Lavender town theme played and everyone died.

A Weedle with its head stinger sawed off. Bug type.

A Paras that's mushrooms. Not a Pokemon, just mushrooms that kill you if you eat them.

A Slowbro without its Shelder. Sadly, just a Slowpoke.

A Pidgey. Bird type.

A Bulbasaur that's just a fucking toad. Normal type. No Grass, no poison.

I just realised if you mix Slowbro with Starmie, the other water/psychic type, you'll get Patrick Star.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

4chan's currently shitting its pants over Z-A supposedly having 27 new Megas
the schizophrenic story continues with "the full roster":
1742947436803.png1742947955745.png
supposedly, the two missing spaces are Eelektross and Malamar.

All of this is completely unsourced, out-of-the-ass type crap. It is still recommended to take it with a massive bag of salt. The guys leaking it have been known to post false information for years and the sole exception has not only not confirmed any of this directly (save for, supposedly:
  • a total lack of new Pokémon in the game
  • the number of megas (27, even though randoms are now claiming 32 and the same guy, Pyoro, said "there may be more than 27")
  • Xerneas, Yveltal, and Mightyena not getting megas
  • and the fact that all of this information is supposedly coming from "a list that circulated for a while in some private places" (this is almost certainly code for some dumb Discord server))
but also lost his Nintendo source that let him leak shit last year and threw a tantrum over it.

I'm only 98% disbelieving him because he clearly still has a source for TCG Pocket and, given the fact that megas are returning to the TCG, there's a very good chance that Pocket might have some set information related to promoting new megas (which makes me able to believe that he could've gotten this info legit), but it's a stretch and I don't trust him. Especially not with Centro the Nigger and Khu the Khuck breaking all of his information around the same time.

I'm almost tempted to believe this is fake because it's so fucking close to what I wanted near-exactly. A lot of underappreciated, generally under-the-radar mon with room for improvement but no thematic breathing room for an evolution getting big powerful buffs and some spotlight in a new game. It's a shame that the megas will probably be gone come gen 10, again, but fans will make the forms permanent so i'll be happy regardless.
I'm not even convinced that they'll fuck up all the designs given their recent track record with more derivative designs. All the derivative stuff in SV was honestly better than the original roster, even if it still had its fair share of stinkers, and some of these designs are low-enough of a bar already that you can't really make them worse (cough cough Barbaracle cough cough Zeraora) so I'm curious to see what they do if this is indeed the actual roster.

Additionally, I do appreciate how it gives at least one new mega to each type. It also gives Kalos some much-needed love (if this roster is true, then 1/7 of Kalos' original Pokémon will end up having a mega once this game is out) and helps even out the playing field by making megas less disproportionately balanced towards Hoenn in particular. I obviously had no problems with that, but it's nice to have some more balance for those with inferior tastes. :smug:

The way this entire leak has come about is fucking schizophrenic and I have to talk about it. It all started with this tweet:

1742948305330.png

from Centro, the thieving bastard, followed almost immediately by similar tweets from Khu (who dropped a riddle), Ballguy, Pory_Leeks, and a bunch of other faggots in the same sphere.

Cue enormous meltdown on /vp/, where the previously dead board's activity spikes to release day levels of activity for no real reason, with a bunch of retards flooding in and, for some god forsaken reason, taking the word of several lying dunces who've been complete and utter jokes on the board for years as gospel.

Three threads reach hundreds of replies in less than a day on a board where anything outside of the generals or softcore porn takes several days to reach 100-200.1742948529064.png1742948583632.png
1742948617801.png

Leakers' stuff from twitter is reposted onto the board within minutes. Lots of obvious tourists flood in, questioning absolutely nothing and/or creating DOZENS of threads acting as if this stuff is the real deal, posting something new every 1 or 2 seconds. On a board that has spent the last month languishing in "1-reply-every-30-seconds" hell.

This was all yesterday. Come today, the board has almost entirely returned to its old state. There are still some threads on the topic, but almost none of them have been anywhere near as active and most of them haven't broken the 100 post threshold despite being on the board for nearly as much time as yesterday's super-active threads. Most of the leak threads are past page 5, barely posted on, and/or already dead.

The newest thread revolving around a development in the leak situation was posted 2 hours ago and currently has less than 20 replies.

Almost all of them are just making fun of the OP or asking for more information instead of blindly accepting the leaks as truth like the last few threads were.

This is all despite Centro still posting plenty often and the other leakers playing just as coyly.

Did some retard from Reddit organize a raid or something? Was this set up by the same guys with this "list" to astroturf it into looking real in which case I have to commend them because this is a very high-effort way of doing it and the leak isn't half bad? We may never know the answer.

Although all of this did happen a week away from April Fool's so maybe it was just a very early prank.

I swear to god I caught a black zubat in either LG or FR once. I talked about it on discord once and the most reasonable conclusion was that my Gameboy SP backlight shifted dark blues to black/gray

Reminds me that my brother swears to this day his Golbat on his original Blue version save file hated him. He had left it in the daycare for like half a year or so, and when he got it back sometime after beating the Elite Four (it wasn't at level 100), it was permanently disobeying him to the point it would just mostly hurt itself in battle. One such incident had it get in the way of its own Hyper Beam and faint (and apparently that was the actual text used), which his twin witnessed that happening and swears by it as well.

It took me:
*Several hours
*15 max repels
*Almost 200 total balls thrown
Just to catch one Deoxys, and when I did I was out on everything but Nest Balls. Gross, it doesn't fit it at all. On top of that, it was of a Careful nature, not ideal for a glass canon. I'm seeing that even tho you can technically catch as many legendary Pokemon as you want in this romhack, each one is still a massive undertaking, only being made worse by RNG. Might be fun to come back later and spend a day catching as many of a certain legendary as I can, for now I am just focusing on at least 1 of each before I move on.
