Is having a microwave considered being above poor??
You can get a Microwave for like $50.
Never underestimate how stupid people are when it comes to money management. And a lot of poor people are very, very stupid.
I have no idea why people on food stamps would keep wasting their money on expensive soda. It's cheaper to buy tea, milk, and even just sticking with water.
Water? Like out of the toilet?

I propose nigger daycare. It's exactly like jail but instead of prison blocks its a gigantic computer lab where they can play gta online, sleep all day, eat chicken and box each other over cigarettes until they expire naturally.
So basically a high school in downtown Houston. (Or basically every HISD school)

I keep a bag of frozen raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries in the freezer most grocery runs. The only issue is they're sometimes quite expensive, but it's either I put fruit in my freezer, or hot pockets, and I love me some berries.
I used to make a blender protein smoothie every morning. Whole milk + chocolate whey protein powder + oats + frozen raspberries/blueberries/blackberries/cherries (whichever I felt like). Was delicious

Fun fact: Everything you listed there is perishable. At the end of its shelf life, everyone gets a heavy discount on it. Not to mention that the sell-by dates are very conservative, so it's not like it goes bad the moment the clearance sticker goes on it.
The trick is to just go in the back and eat all the shit they're about to throw out anyway. Most of it isn't even bad, it's just past the point they'd wanna see it to customers.

Europe, not UAE.

Stay healthy. I want to argue with you fucks for a good long time. The rest of you... do better.

Nice, I always went with some greek yogurt in there in place of whey powder myself. Frozen fruit tends to bounce around in price, sometimes even those smaller bags of berries can get as high as six bucks each, but I'd still rather have the sugar from actual fruit than something like soda. A nice fruit smoothie feeds you and tastes good. Plus if you really want to fatten yourself up you can always use them for milkshakes, pancakes, quickbreads, really whatever you want.

Just the usual problem of people who bitch that it's impossible to eat this way because it's more than miserable soylent slop and that seems to be their frame of reference for eating anything that wasn't premade in a box.

Oh I'm definitely not. I lift, but I could do more, and my fat ass loves me some baked desserts and breakfasts. But I like making them myself, and I know that if I'm gonna eat that then I can't pile things like soda and candy bars on top of it. I like cooking, I eat plenty, and I can do it for cheap because I had to learn to.

Hulkster and I are, if I had to guess, on the opposite end of the dietary spectrum. While I'm not out eating burgers and steaks every day, I'm definitely not focused on a specific diet and just eat whatever it is I want to cook up. But, both Hulk and I are probably doing it for dirt cheap, which goes to show you don't have to break the bank to eat super healthy or spend a fortune to make anything 'fancy' and 'decadent'. You just have to learn to do it and stop being lazy.

Apparently, a fatwa has been issued to MAGA shill accounts on behalf of BIG SODA to post in favor of keeping soda in food stamps—for seemingly no reason. Some pretty big accounts are involved (and also Ian Miles Cheong, too), and allegedly, they're paying up to $1,000 per shill

I agree with Big Soda here; Diet Coke should be allowed on food stamps. That being said, I do understand why someone might want to restrict unhealthy foods if the taxpayers are paying for it.

Trump, if you (somehow) happen to come across this post: please, please shit talk Mark Hamill. The seething and malding would be on another level.

I know a lot of Mexicans (and chicanos who learned it from their Mexican parents) that will drink soda like water. I've been told its a mix of aggressive advertising and the general shit quality of water in Mexico. During the Flint Water Crisis I also remember a lot of people turning to soda if they couldn't get their hands on bottled water. I'd be interested to see hard numbers about how much soda is consumed on foodstamps and what the demographics look like.

IIRC there were certain regions in Mexico where some soda company (Coke, I think?) literally controlled the water supply and made Coke cheaper than water for them, as to get them addicted for life.

My proposal is that SNAP only covers food and drink items that are 2 ingredients or less.
All fresh meats (beef, chicken, pork, etc) or frozen meat so long as it's plain
All fresh or frozen vegetables
All fresh or frozen fruit
Flour, sugar, butter, milk, eggs, single ingredient Seasonings and salt
Plain water, or unflavored sparkling water, tea bags, coffee grounds, milk.

Everything else is not purchasable. The reason for two ingredients instead of one is it allows items like butter which may be salted, or yogurt which may have bacterial cultures as an ingredient.

Unfortunately, this would cut some decent items like sausage, bacon, deli meat, bread, condiments, and some other items but I would consider it a necessary evil. Plus plain meats are way cheaper anyway and any luxury item they can purchase on their own dime.

This would avoid the problem of trying to decide what's healthy or not while completely excluding any and all processed foods including soda and candy.

You can compose a whole diet from only items made up of two ingredients, you can bake your own cookies and desserts if you want a treat, but you cannot buy processed foods or sugary drinks.

Individuals can decide for themselves what their diet should look like, and what they consider healthy. The government doesn't have a good track record for deciding this, and some may have special dietary needs they need to account for anyway. So this should be a decent compromise.

A bunch of meat and cheese and eggs? Fine. Rice and beans and a little bit of fish? Whatever. Vegetarian or plant-based? Have at it. But no processed foods.

Would this necessarily force people to be healthy? Probably not because they could just buy sugar dump it in water and guzzle that down. But I'm betting it would help because most would be too lazy to make cookies or cake and what they make wouldn't be as addicting and easy to access as doritos and snack cakes.

Main point. If you want pop tarts or candy or soda or whatever else get a fucking job and buy it yourself.
